Tom Brady’s recovery from repairs to his left ACL and MCL is slower than normal, according to Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports. Brady was knocked out for the season in a Week 1 hit by Kansas City’s Bernard Pollard in the first quarter at Gillette Stadium.

Once news broke of Brady’s infected knee following Oct. 6 surgery, renowned orthopedic specialist Dr. Tim Kremchek told WEEI.com on Oct. 23 that a setback was likely as Brady recovered.

trade Brady. Sign Cassell for 7 million per year. Free up lots of cap space.

Are you crazy? Brady has 3 rings and a TD record.

Thank You Matt, now bring back Tom

Trade Brady? Are you kidding me. Look Cassel has been more than we could have ever hoped for, but come on! He does have the two best wideouts in the game, Brady alwasy did more with less. Pff trade Brady, thats just STUPID!!

Brady contract is backloaded with gauranteed money due to his constant restructuring to help the pats stay under cap last few years. you trade him the cap hit is bigger than keeping him so you wont save any money.
Franchise cassel. it doesnt affect the cap til he signs and no one excepot charles woodson signs the franchise tender until training camp anyways by wich time if he hasnt been traded he wouldnt be anyways, try to trade him for a 1st rounder (woudl you draft an unproven rookie an dsign a him to huge long term deal or a 3 year vet who proved himself this last season? seriously. tim couch, alex smith, akili smith, cade mcnown, the list goes on and on and on) or maybe a 3rd this year and a 2nd next year that turns to a 1st with incentives and if not ride them both next year in case brady isnt fully recovers or gets hurt again. and RELAX. seasons over. doesnt start again til september it will work itself out.

am i the only sober patriot fan out there? tom brady is done in football. if, by some unprecedented healing and renewal of his knee, he manages to return to the nfl, he will never surpass mediocrity. consider : when this type of injury heals well and the rehab is ideal, it invariably limits an athlete to a severe degree. there are, of course, a handful of exceptions… but i can assure you at this point that brady will not be one of them – repeated infections and (perhaps) his obstinate choice in doctors will be the reasons brady never plays at a high level again. it’s kind of embarrassing to be part of a fanbase that remains so convinced that “our tom” will return and resume playing as if he was never injured at all.

i don’t know if cassel is the answer for next year and beyond, but they are going to need to get someone for quarterback, because tom brady is NOT going to be there.

why is this so hard for fans to accept? he’s a great player, but he’s not superhuman. he’s just an athlete and sometimes athletes get injured and they can no longer perform. his future in football will in all probability be limited to backyard touch football… even then he’s gonna have to be careful.

i eagerly await a sober discussion of this on the weei tom brady radio fan club

I agree with Mike, and the fact that i am clean and sober has nothing to do with it. That so called “doctor” in “goofyland, aka LA, is the main reason why Tom will be lucky if he plays a full season if at all in 09. I also agree with Mike, that if he plays it may be at only 70 or 80 % of what we were used to. Tom Brady was an extrodinay footbal player, and is headed to the hall of fame. But he may have played his last game as a patriot. Matt Cassell or Kevin O’Connell, it doesn’t matter, someone will fit in with the patriots “system” and thrive. We need to focus on defense…before we played those cupcake teams, we were like 21st in points allowed. Finishing 8th is not a good indication of there defense. So, with that, we will just have to wait and see. Howard

Really! We are seriously giving up on Tom? ok that i just dumb. Brady may not be 100% at the beging of the season but look at Mcnab i mean really two season ending injuries. Brady will be there when the season starts and he will be hungrier for a championship than he has ever been. Being a bridesmaid of the superbowl then getting his season ended, you can believe that tom will be ready and he will be on point! All the fans that are not putting yourself behind the man who changed this franchise are looking in the best intrest of the Pats.
