Report: Delmas has visit scheduled with Pats

03.27.09 at 11:15 am ET
By

According to profootballtalk.com, Western Michigan safety Louis Delmas has a pre-draft visit scheduled with the Patriots. The 5-foot-11, 202-pound Delmas, a four-year starter and three-time all-conference safety, is projected to be one of the first safeties taken in next month’s draft, possibly a late first- or second-round selection.

In his career at Western Michigan, Delmas finished with 12 interceptions. As a senior, he had five games where he had 10 or more tackles, and finished the 2008 season with 109 tackles overall. Last month at the NFL Scouting Combine, Delmas posted a 4.50 in the 40-yard dash, which tied for third-fastest among safeties. In addition, he also posted a 37″ vertical jump, a 10-foot-6 broad jump and  a 4.17-second time in the 20-yard shuttle.

PFT.com reports that Delmas also has pre-draft visits scheduled with Ravens, Falcons, Jets, Saints, Broncos, Dolphins, Browns and Cowboys. The news on Delmas comes on the heels of New England’s decision to invite Cincinnati defensive end/linebacker/tight end Connor Barwin in for a pre-draft visit earlier this week. Teams are allowed 30 pre-draft visits in all.

100-New York Giants (9-7) Asher Allen CB Georgia 5-10 198

    TRADES:
Tampa Bay>Cleveland-#50 and #81 For Browns TE K.Winslow
The Browns felt they knew something the Bucs did not and they ain’t tellin’. Winslow is a talent but…… Perhaps Mangini can turn one of these top choices into a “new and improved” Winslow like a Cook, Coffman or Ingram without the drama.

Detroit>N.E-#33 and #82 for first pick in round one (#23).The Lions jump back in to get QB Freeman. Round Two belongs to the Pats.

Jacksonville>Chicago #8 (1st) For Chicago round one #18 and round three #49.The playmaking receiver the Bears have needed. Before surgery, Crabtree was rated the best player in the draft by some.

Philadelphia>N.E.- WR G.Lewis and 2010 Eagles 7th for N.E. 2009 Fifth round. A yawner…Lewis is a number four or five on the Eagles depth chart who have no WRs. Does he jump to number three in New England? Oh well! His salary and CAP is cheap.
