Highlights from Tom Brady’s Q&A, 9/20 09.20.09 at 5:42 pm ET
By Christopher Price

Here are a few highlights from Tom Brady’s postgame Q&A from today:

We didn’t do much. We just … it was poor execution a lot of the time. We’ve all gotta do a better job. I gotta do a better job of throwing the ball and being more accurate and making better reads. A lot of things are correctable that were not so good today. And you have to give the Jets a lot of credit – they played a great game defensively. We had our chances.

Any flashbacks to last week with a last-minute scoring drive?
I thought we had a chance there – we just didn’t execute well in the two-minute possession. That’s something we’ve been good at, but the Jets were better at it today than we were, so … it’s frustrating. I think we had really high expectations for this game, and we just didn’t put it together very well. But we’ll learn from it and get back to work this week.

Any surprises?
We prepared hard for them. They’re always challenging with the different looks they give. They’re a very talented team. So … a lot of them, we had worked on. I think we had a good plan. We just didn’t execute very well.

On going to the hurry-up…
We tried to go hurry-up pretty much the whole game. We had some good opportunities, I thought, to take advantage going fast, but in the end, it didn’t help very much. I thought we had some plays we could have made that were there to be made. And if we make them, we get first downs – and we have to do a better job in the red area. I think that’s two weeks in a row where we haven’t been very good in the red area. That has to improve. I think there are a lot of things that have to improve.

How comfortable were you with the wristbands and change in communication and did that play into the delay of game calls?
It was fine. We worked on it. The delay of game calls, I’ve gotta do a better job with those. So, they don’t come up very often, but when they do, they hurt. And they hurt us today.

BRADY LOOKED BAD AND SO DIDN’T THE REST OF THE TEAM. THEY STRUGGLED & IT LOOKED LIKE THEY JUST WAITED FOR THE JETS TO PLAY SO THEY COULD REACT TO WHAT EVER THEY WERE DOING. PLAIN AND SIMPLE THEY GOT SCHOOLED AND IT HURT TO WATCH. LOOKED LIKE BLEDSOE WAS PLAYING.

  2. BT Says:

    Hey Pete,

People like you are unfortunately the reason most Patriot fans are fair weather D bags. Its the second game back from a major ACL…Try some patience, class and faith in the team. Or just be a typical WEEI dick and come here to whine about it…..Loser.

  3. CBR Says:

    BT,

I agree about the fair weather fans and also agree that TB is going to take a little while to get back on track. I have a hard time excusing the play calling by the offense coordinator and that line needs to hold up a little better. Knowing the situation, I’d think it would’ve been prudent to put the ball on the ground a bit more. They were able to move it, they just never committed to doing it. Joey Gallaway also needs to improve. Not all of the passes he missed were his fault but he did miss enough that it hurt. Also, having Welker in would’ve been helpful too. I’ve not lost hope but I must admit, I am a little concerned. I figured the offense would be able to carry the mediocre defense this season. I’m not so sure, though I’ll be watching and cheering all the way…

CBR, I agree to an extent, but if you read some of the posts on here, Patriots “Fans” are overreacting to two games. Its naive to think that the Pats would roll out with new players, new defensive schemes, new OC, and not miss a beat. I agree on running the ball more if its working. Joey Galloway, so far, seems out of sync and slow. JG not being effective, or even respected as a threat, allows the coverage to roll to Moss, Welker, etc. All in all, I think it will get better. I am simply tired of listening to impatient, classless “fans” come on here after two games crying about Brady not playing well, etc. They need a life, and some perspective, and some patience. Spoiled silly.

  5. JD Says:

Loving seeing you Gaytriot fans squirming. Your superbowls*** were all based on the fall of the dice. You’ve NEVER had a dominant performance in the superbowl, and as soon as Vinatieri left, so did the rings. Everyone thinks Billichick is a God so all he has to do is stand there with that smug look on his face and everyone will cower in fear. They had their run, and now its back to mediocrity. So glad it’s happening while Brady is there so there’s no “well if we had Tom” talk. LOVING THIS!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

    JD

It is the SECOND game, and ONE LOSS!!

you are loving what? What was the Pats record after 2 games in 01? How about 03? Keep loving it now, because in Nov. Dec. Jan. & Feb you will likely be crying!!

  7. HG Says:

Although it is only the second game of the season, I think the offensive unit as a whole is out of sync. If Joey Galloway is out of sync, then I guess the rest of the receiving unit is too. Moss and Welker didn’t catch every ball thrown their way either…or can we just say what it really is…Tom Brady isn’t as sharp as he used to be YET.
Furthermore, how can we assess Galloway or Moss’ speed as of yet when we aren’t even going deep. Brady throws an INT and that’s the end of the deep ball. Offensive play calling definitely needs to improve.

  8. CHARLIE D Says:

    HEY PATS FANS,

MY NAME IS CHARLIEJET80 AND ALL I CAN SAY IS STOP YOUR CRYING AND PUT DOWNS OF THE JETS. WE BEAT YOU BECAUSE OUR TEAM IS ON THE RISE AND OUR “D” WAS MORE THAN YOU COULD HANDLE THAT DAY.
I HAVE TREMENDOUS RESPECT FOR THE PATRIOTS, BILL, AND TOM BRADY. MY FAMILY IS FROM LENOX MASS AND I LOVE THE NEW ENGLAND AREA.
YOU CANT BE “WORLD BEATERS” FOREVER! EVENTUALLY TEAMS ARE GONA GET PISSED OFF AND TRY TO WIN. THATS WHAT THEY ARE PAID TO DO.
YOU STILL HAVE ALOT TO BE VERY PROUD OF AS A “DIE HARD JETS FAN” I TIP MY HAT TO YOUR SUCCESS OVER THE YEARS. GO JETS BEAT NEW ENGLAND!!!
