Mayo and Welker not at practice

FOXBORO — Just got back from the start of Patriots practice, and the only two players not present for the portion of practice the media is allowed to attend were linebacker Jerod Mayo and wide receiver Wes Welker. In addition, kick returner/wide receiver Matthew Slater was in a red (non-contact) jersey. The practice was being held in full pads on the lower field behind Gillette Stadium. We’ll have the first injury report of the week at 4 p.m.
