Fisher: Collins, not Vince, gets start vs. Pats 10.14.09 at 7:12 pm ET
By Mike Petraglia

With his team winless in its first five games, Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Wednesday that he has no intentions of benching quarterback Kerry Collins in favor of Vince Young for this Sunday’s game against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

“I’ve not wavered off of that,” said Fisher, who inserted Young late in the fourth quarter last Sunday against Indianapolis. “After the game I indicated that Kerry is our starter. I put Vince [Young] in because when you get behind and get ahead, it makes sense to get your backups some playing time and that was the reason. It was not a move, per say; it was just simply that. So Kerry returns as our starter.”

Sounds like Fisher is just too Stubborn to say that he was wrong for being to quick to hand Collins the starting position…it should have been a competition during the Spring, and Kerry should have been benched after going 0-3.

This season is a wrap…might as well get started playing for the future…if Vince is that guy…let him take the snaps…no need to continue with Collins at this point.

I agree. Bring Vince in and see what he can do

Jeff fisher has lost his mind. It may be time to give the asst. head coach some playing time as well.

keli, Collins won the competition. “Kerry should have been benched after going 0-3.” And replaced with what? Vince Young cannot play. What is it here that people aren’t understanding?

How about the 59-0 blowout today. Does that help. Yes the defense has problems but the Titans offense didn’t generate any points. You can not measure the potential impact of Vince Young when he gets five snaps since the regular season. It’s a joke and so is Jeff Fisher.
