| Jets’ Ryan: No more tears for fears | 11.18.09 at 3:45 pm ET |
FOXBORO — This time, Jets coach Rex Ryan had his audience in tears.
During a conference call with the New England media on Wednesday, he addressed his crying in front of Jets players on Monday, his use of a Kleenex box during Wednesday’s press conference with New York reporters and what would’ve happened if he had a fourth-and-2 at his own 28, leading 34-28 late in the fourth quarter.
Here’s a hint: He would have punted.
“Obviously, he knows his football team way better than anybody else and you can’t question his decision,” Ryan said. “If I would have made that decision and it hadn’t worked, I’d be hanging from the Empire State Building. But quite honestly, he’s earned that. He is the best coach in football.”
Ryan also called Randy Moss the best vertical receiver in football but he countered that by labeling his corner Darrelle Revis, who will cover Moss this Sunday, the best corner in football.
“They know how we’re going to line him up,” Ryan said. “They know how we’re going to play him.”
