FOXBORO – Patriots coach Bill Belichick would not confirm a report by the Providence Journal that four players were sent home for being late for an 8 a.m. meeting this morning at Gillette Stadium.
The paper reports that Randy Moss, Adalius Thomas, Gary Guyton and Derrick Burgess were caught in traffic due to the bad weather and were sent home after showing up late.
“Any disciplinary action stays between me and the players,” said Belichick, who also declined to say whether the players would be welcomed back at practice later this afternoon.
Tom Brady made it through the snow and traffic Wednesday morning and showed up at Gillette Stadium, despite spending the night with his wife, who just gave birth to the couple’s first baby.
Asked if he has any reaction to the four players being disciplined and sent home, Brady attempted to deflect any criticism of his teammates while still showing his commitment.
“Um, you guys find out everything these days, gosh,” Brady laughed before adding, ‘That’s coach’s decision. I’ve got to do my job. I’ve got plenty of things to do. I’ve got to show up every day and bring whatever I have in energy and leadership to this team because that’s what I owe those guys. That’s what my job is.”
