Brady: We can’t lose and expect the playoffs

FOXBORO – Talk about putting pressure on himself and the team. Tom Brady made it clear on Wednesday that if the Patriots can’t travel to Western New York this week and come home with a win against the 5-8 Bills, then they shouldn’t be planning for January.
“This is a big part of the season for us,” Brady said in a matter-of-fact tone. “[We] can’t afford to lose this game and expect to make the playoffs, so we’ve got to play well. We’ve got a tough opponent – one that puts pressure on you in a bunch of different ways. Offensively, they really do some things that are going to challenge our defense.”
Much has been made of their 0-5 ‘true’ road record so far, with a win in London against a Tampa Bay team that traveled farther than they did.
But more than home, road or Europe, Brady realizes the real issue is how the Patriots play in the final month. And last week’s 20-10 win over Carolina has left a lot of people still wondering about these Patriots.
“Coach [Belichick] always says the best teams are the ones that play best in December,” Brady said. “You know, we didn’t have a very good one there to start the month and [were] better last week. This week is certainly [the] most important.”
