Report: Patriots have expressed ‘strong’ interest in Schobel 08.08.10 at 11:22 am ET
By Christopher Price

The Patriots have “strong” interest in pass rusher Aaron Schobel, but the former Bill is seeking “big” money, according to Comast’s Mike Giardi. (Giardi quotes a source as saying Schobel’s situation isn’t like that of Junior Seau, who a contract that was below market value to come out of retirement and play for New England.) Schobel, who became available last week when he was released by Buffalo, is one of the best pass rushers currently available — the 32-year-old had 78 sacks over the last nine years with the Bills.

Schobel is proving to be simply a mercenary. He originally was
going to retire to his ranch to be near his family.

I agree. We absolutely need Schobel. This would eliminate our biggest question mark: pass rush. If we have a legit pass rush are definitely a favorite in the AFC. It seems like he’s going to go to Houston though because it’s hear his family and his old coach. I don’t think we’ll get him unless we throw a GIANT contract in his face, which wouldn’t surprise me. BB wants to win and he KNOWS that Schobel would make beating the offensive monsters we need to play this season (Chargers, Colts, Green Bay, Vikings w/ Farve). Schobel is a MUST have for the Patriots. This is an unexpected miracle, and we NEED to take advantage of it. Pay him whatever the frig he wants.

Do you really think Schobel is interested in winning? I think he would rather have the cash.
