Patriots pull a shocker, take quarterback Ryan Mallett with 74th overall pick

By

The Patriots selected quarterback Ryan Mallett with the No. 74 overall pick in the NFL draft on Friday night. Mallett was one of the most polarizing signal-callers available in this year’s draft — he has one of the strongest arms out there, having thrown for almost 4,000 yards this past season with Arkansas. However, Mallett is hounded by character questions, including drug rumors that  reportedly caused his draft stock to fall. The 6-foot-7, 253-pound Mallett had 3,869 yards and 32 touchdowns this past season with the Razorbacks.

lol. Look at all the Queebs and Canucks here bitchin’.  Sorry you guys haven’t been great since you gave us all your good players, since we embarrassed a Canadian team in the Stanley Cup, since you burned a city down because Vancouver is the ULTIMATE WHINER CITY.  Suck it up.  You haven’t won since Patrick Roy (Pronounced ‘roy’ not ‘wah’) failed you and went to a real team, and John LeClair, my neighbor, went to a better American team.  Stop trying to penalty your way into a win you big sack of cry baby habs.

You Boston fans bring a new meaning to whiney. It’s as if you all got intense Whine 101 from Cindy Crosby.

    • Bruinman86

Look, both teams were guilty of stuff yesterday.  Plain and simple.  Refs let a few things slide that they probably shouldn’t have.  The Bruins lost the game because they let their emotions get the best of them.  Both teams have passionate fans.  Some crazier than others.  Sure, we’re pissed that the Habs won.  But we also know that we will meet again.  I can’t wait. Meanwhile, quit the name-calling and the taunting.  It was 1 regular season win. Nothing more. Save it for the playoffs. Besides, this is a BOSTON forum for BOSTON fans to sound off after a tough loss. Not for Montreal fans to taunt B’s fans. If you disagree with what we say on here, then leave. Take the high road.

I like the sentiment but the trolls cannot go unchecked. I am of the opinion that Chara should have waited to make his point…it would have been just as effective rather than immediately…but Subban is a disgrace. For a guy that good to pull that kind of crap is indeed a travesty. He’s not a small guy….Isolate him when he gets hit…he forever reacts like his head was ripped off…he looks around and then gets up…The NHL needs to fix this…we have 2 different styles of hockey. The B’s are big and physical. The Habs are small and fast…if the B’s play their game and don’t let them get under their skin, B’s win…but the officiating has to call the flops…it’s in the books…call it!!!!

        • Bruinman86

What is so disappointing about Subban is that he is a tremendous talent, but he chooses to diminish it all with the diving, acting crap. How cowardly can you get? Honestly, I see it as an extension of his coach. I agree the NHL needs to cut this crap out, and quick. It hurts the integrity of the game. The hockey purists of all teams don’t like this crap. Obvious flops – regardless of the team doing it should face a 1 game suspension as well. Clean the game up.

  • Habs dive squad

nothing you can do about it.  refs arent going to chance calling embellishment when the guy could actually be hurt.  i just hope the bruins never become one of these teams that use this as a regular tactic when trailing in a game.

Montreal flops, no doubt and Subban looks like such a wuss when he does it. That said, I wish Julien would just shut up in these instances. Move on…if he thinks the posturing buys anything it doesn’t, it just looks pathetic.

As a fan of neither team I find Julien incredibly whiney. He, along with his players supported Charra’s intervention of Lemelin’s crosscheck. I suppose taking this immediate action was supposed to have the effect of sending a message to the Canadians “dont F*** with us”.  However given the result of Charra missing 17 minutes of crucial game time and probably causing a Bruin loss undoubtedly gave the Canadians the attitude ” Hey lets do it all again. We’ll take a little bruising. It was worth it”

Nobody is questioning who won the game. Why don’t all the
Bruins’ haters stick to the topic? The topic is Subban and the Habs’ are
notorious for dive tactics against the Bruins’ every now and then and everyone knows
it……..plain and simple.  I mean Geesh a couple of years ago in the Playoffs I’m suprised that Subban didnt take a dive during the elimination handshake, that’s how bad he was!!!!!!!!!

How about the high stick to Pacioretty or that little puke Marchand putting the blade of his stick in Prust’s throat.  Both completely accidental, I’m sure.

      of course they were accidents

Ahhhhh so nice to see the Bruins-Canadiens bad blood spill into the stands and hit this board. That is what we call FANS!

Look, I agree with what has been said about the Canadiens. They played a good game last night and won. Good for them and as a fan of hockey (and the Bruins) they played well. It is nice to see them have a strong team this year….it is better for hockey and for this rivalry.

Now, what I, as a Bruin fan, take exception to is some of the deluded commentary that has entered this board by people claiming to be Canadiens fans. Hmmmm. I know several Canadiens fans and they tend to be a bit more intelligent, open-minded, and savvy about the game than many who have posted here today.

Here are some facts – not opinions – that should be shared:

First, to claim that there Subban doesn’t flop is simply ridiculous. It is as silly as saying the Varajeo, Ginobli, and Scola don’t flop in the NBA. They do and the NBA did something about it, which – I agree with posters here  – the NHL has to deal with.

Second, both teams play a tough type of hockey. But to claim that the Canadiens don’t stretch the bounds of what is fair and legal is a bit silly. There have been a couple of cheap shots leveled by the Habs against the Bruins. We saw a couple last night and when the Bruins retaliate, several players turtle….ala Ulf Samuelson back in the day. The NHL doesn’t need that. And, yes, Marchand stretches the boundaries as well. We know that. Sure, Marchand may be well-liked by Bruins fans, but not everyone here appreciates all of his antics. Many a Bruins fan, though loving his game, has noted that he can also rile up opponents sufficiently to cause problems for his fellow teammates who have to face repercussions.

Third, it is okay to call out Bruins fans, but let’s not be hypocritical. Most Bruins fans are not, by nature, classless.  Bruins fans didn’t dial the police hoping to get Chara arrested. Bruins fans did not take a petition out hoping to get Chara in trouble. A Bruin radio station announcer didn’t allegedly call a Boston hospital asking how to make a 60 year old baby quiet. Please…the last people that Canadiens fans should call classless are Bruins fans who had to put up with this type of useless nonsense.

Sure, it was a tough game. The Canadiens won. However, who won the prior five games in the series. Who matches up better. And who – when they are on their game – plays a better game. Clearly the Bruins.

    Fact, not opinion.

When did Canadian fans and players turn into such Wimps? If you played for Montreal in the 80′s or even the 90′s like this you would have been run out of town by your own fans. Now you embrace it. You’ve gone soft
