More from Tom Brady: the QB talks about his health, the recent players-only workouts at BC and the Bruins 06.03.11 at 8:43 pm ET
By

Here are a few more highlights from Tom Brady’s five-minute Q&A with the media Friday night at Harvard:

His participation as part of the weekend of events: “It’s a great event. We have much more support this year than we did last year. This is something very close to me. Katie Meade is my buddy. She is a great person, a great woman, and I think she is a great representative of Best Buddies. It’s good to be here with her.”

On the workouts the team has held the last three days at BC: “It’s been fun; it’s been fun to see a lot of the guys. I think there was a lot of good work. You see a lot of the guys who came out to support this, with Wes [Welker] and Julian [Edelman] and Nate Solder, who is a rookie. This is a great event. Tedy [Bruschi] is out here. His new nickname is Kilimanja-Bru. It’s been a lot of fun this week. This is a great way to cap it off.”

On bringing the players together for workouts — did you feel obligated to do that? “No, there were a lot of people that were instrumental in getting everybody together. We have a lot of great leaders on our team. I’ve been here for a long time, so as a veteran on the team, not just a quarterback, there are a lot of guys who are really working hard. That’s what we need.”

On his health after January foot surgery: “I feel good, good enough to run around here and have fun. I’m excited for football season.”

On the Bruins and their recent Stanley Cup run: “It was exciting the other night. I wish we would have pulled it out. It was a bummer about the Celtics. The Red Sox had a tough four days. We have a pretty good thing going in Boston right now with our sports teams. We get such great support from our fans and from you guys who cover us and care so much about what we’re doing. I think it’s really a pleasure to play in front of people who really care.”

Let us not forget that Reagan’s future vp (Bush) and cia chief (Casey) met with the Ayatolla Khomeini behind the back of the then-current Carter administration (treason) and arranged for Iran to keep the American hostages until after the election. In return Iran got, at the very least, a conduit thru which to illegally receive missiles and other armaments–which came to light when traitor Ollie North got busted taking the missile $$$ and giving it to friends in Central America who turned out, naturally enough, to be drug smugglers USA-bound. Ah, the good old days…

How about the refs going wrong, again, with the B’s?? Chara gets an elbowing penalty for defending himself, Marchand gets called for a high stick when his stick pushed Subban to the ice instead of hitting him, the refs can’t even count as they didn’t call Montreal for too many men on the ice right before their third goal and that bogus call on Johnson for delay of game for deflecting a puck in the air out of play. Not to mention when Paille got flattened right over the Canadiens’ blue line and no call. This was another embarassment to the NHL with the Canadiens’ diving and flopping and the refs siding with them. I’ve seen better officiating in the NBA!!

  • Geetsolboy

Iginla was scratched from lineup tonight, he’s been traded.

Chara scored the tying goal not Rask. Tough with puck leaving yard however third period collapses are a real bad sign. 5 goals at home should be an easy win.

  • Cambee

Ill call a spade a spade on this. The refs were horrible! I almost want to say they fixed the game.
The Habs 5th goal should never have counted. Gallagher Cross Check Seid 10 ft away from him!!!!
The Chara penatly might have been the worse! The midget put his head into chara while cross checking him!
Still they look much better and lost more cause of the officials than anything else.

  • cambee

    Agreed!

  • Fab4ever

One of my Bruin buddies is going t o have to talk me down off the ledge because after what I just watched, this ain’t championship caliber. The Habs are good. Real good. I really don’t to hear about “what coulda been if….”..there’s a pattern here and it spells “failure”

poor officiating aside, this 3rd period choking is getting real old real fast.

  • Anonymous

Unlucky puck leaving the rink. However with 8 seconds left drop in front of net versus Chara deflecting it in. Block the goal for 8 seconds.
Third period two goal leads are not enough. Montreal owns them. Much better with the puck and passes.

  • mike

Chara and the Bruins suck and will get destroyed any team can spot them a 2 goal lead going into the third period and beat them nothing but a
Bunch of CHOKERS on the Bruins team sucks
Chara is awful a tall goon.

  • tom

that’s why hockey in Boston is the least like sport because bruins suck

I remember when I had my first beer.

  • kevin

nothing the Bruins can do to get better no defense no goalie and no who can score they will go no where in the playoffs

You know something? For starters, I’m a loyal B’s fan and I can admit when MY team comes up short against a better opponent…but you’re just an ignorant grunt. Your post is a clear and concise example of how a complete moron would respond..a know nothing rant…for one, your grammar is akin to a 5th grade proficiency..and what’s ironic is it’s OLD. You add nothing new…do us and maybe people who know you a favor; suck on a fresh bag of glue And go back to your video game.

  • Gman

How much did you pay the refs?

  • Montreal diving team

Bruins just got some bad breaks in that third period. Give Montreal credit they didn’t quit even after playing last night in Pitt. I thought the refs let a few go by the Canadiens in that 3rd period while Montreal got three in a row to end regulation. I really think the Bruins went into their usual third period shell at the ten minute mark. What are you going to do when you give up goals with help from Seidenberg’s face and Chara’s stick along with a deflection off a stick for a penalty?

  • fab4ever

    Fraud….

  • Bill_hicks

Buddy, I am not going to pick on you because you seem like a good dude. You will likely bash me when I am done, but all good. B’s will have a playoff run. But, 1. The Bruins likely would not have won a Stanley Cup if it wasn’t for “the game without a penalty” vs. Lightning Game 7, plus Ohland was out. 2. I can’t stand Jacobs, that is my problem he stole my paperboy money when I was a kid that CS. 3. I have stated numerous times that the B’s won’t beat the Habs or Pens in the playoffs if fairly healthy. If they pull a couple of trades perhaps…but, I love to see the Bruins fail, too bad Cam got involved hard to root against him. But, Jacobs is a ddadoosh.

  • Bill_hicks

Wait to you get a load of the Red Sox haus! They will make you want to lace up some skates and I want the Sox to rock n’ roll.

  • Troll Hunter

Hey it’s 1972 with his same idiocy as usual…..

  • Fab4ever

I don’t disagree with you. I can only keep the faith but frankly, faith has been taking a beating…I know all about the cliches…anything can happen etc…but they’re getting beaten by good AND bad teams…and the Habs were coming off a tough game the night before…so much for the excuse that the B’s were tired. Something ain’t right…I’m smart enough to see it…but I’ll continue to watch because they are the Bruins….

  • wheeler

    nice game looch….another no show……

  • wheeler

you can take krekci and horton and looch and and get draft picks…..they are aweful

  • Uncle Buck

I wish I could talk you off the ledge, but I’m right next to you. The Bruins had that team down and they had their knee on the Hab’s throat. All they had to do was apply pressure but they let up. Empty the make up bag on that pig, and it’s still a pig. That game rattles even the truest fans hope for a deep playoff run.

  • Uncle Buck

Just wondering, but where do all the trolls come from on the B’s board. Do the NY trolls transform into hockey trolls when the B’s lose to Montreal. Pretty pathetic. Yes, that would be you Mike and Tom….et all

  • Bronx

    all Boston teams suck

  • Anonymous

Being down a man twice within the last 5 minutes of the game doesnt really translate into a choke. Not that they do much when they are on the PP but you have to wonder why game after game, calls just arent made against their opponents.

  • fab4ever

Like The Chairman of The Board, Frank Sinatra once said; “It doesn’t matter how many coats of paint you put on that broad’s face, she’s still an ugly broad”….Not giving up hope just yet but it took a severe beating last night by an obviously better team than ours….now come the excuses….

  • Bruinman86

Not nearly as unlucky as the one that hit Seidenberg in the face and landed right on Gallagher’s stick and went into the net to cut it to 5-4.
