Patriots safety Bret Lockett has become an instant gossip-page legend after appearing on the cover of In Touch Weekly magazine as “the other man” who allegedly had an affair with reality TV star Kim Kardashian. Kardashian is engaged to NBA player Kris Humphries.

Kardashian reportedly is threatening to sue the magazine as well as Lockett, who is quoted in the article as saying, “I knew this was a game to her, and this is what she does,” adding: “She pursued me.”

Lockett, 24, joined the Patriots in 2009 as an undrafted free agent from UCLA. He saw very limited action in 10 games that year. Last September, he was placed on injured reserve with a chest injury.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Lockett is a native of San Dimas, Calif.
