SI.com has unveiled its eighth annual “Fortunate 50″ package, which takes a look at the 50 highest-paid American athletes, and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady checks in at No. 9 on the list.

According to SI, Brady makes $30,007,280 overall, with $20,007,280 in annual salary and $10,000,000 in endorsements. Brady, who was 28th last year, is the third football player on the list, trailing Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning (who totals $38,070,000 in combined salary to come in fourth overall) and Atlanta signal-caller Matt Ryan ($32,700,000 total, eighth overall).

Topping the list was Tiger Woods, who reportedly pulled in a cool $62,294,116 to maintain the top overall spot. For more, check out the SI.com story here.

we hate him, but komeriserik can be had, and he hits blocks shots and takes a beating…why not?

I like getting Jagr, but frankly, Chicarelli seems to consistently overpay. There was no reason to throw in a 2nd (potential 1st) round pick into this…He overpaid for Kaberle too.

  • Matt

Show me 10 people who said he overpaid for Kaberle and/or that it was a bad idea at the time to acquire him and I’ll show you 10 liars. Easy to say that after the fact, but in the moment, it was an awesome acquisition.

Disagree with the “consistently overpaying” comment as well. I’ll throw out a few guys he’s acquired/signed that go against that: Seidenberg (as well has his contract), Marchand’s contract extension, Horton, Bergeron’s current contract, Savard’s contracts (both in 2006 and the cap hit of his latest extension, for the player that he was, before that thug Cooke pretty much ended his career), Recchi. Chiarelli is one of the 5 best GM’s in the NHL.

He’s not perfect, but he’s the best GM in Boston. It’s funny how Chiarelli always gets a ton of crap, the majority of which being unwarranted, yet no one says anything about Danny Ainge or how Belichick can’t draft a corner to save his life, nor can he hire defensive coaches (Boyer, Patricia) who are actually qualified to unclog toilets at the local bowling alley. Both of them could get away with murder, and Chiarelli and Redsox ownership can’t.

As you know, I don’t like the Bruins (because they stole my paperboy money – those rotten bums Jacobs and Sinden). But, this was a trade THEY had to make to get to the ECF and maybe further. They now have a scorer – something the haven’t had since Orr and Espo. Maybe, Neely or Nifty if you want to push it. Rask is not Thomas. So you better score goals. If Burgy is or is not out long, at least the greasy B’s have a chance of scoring goals.

Great move. Now where to put him? I say health scratch Looch and put him on the first line with Krejic for a couple of games. Send a wake up call.
