Broncos sign Willis McGahee

07.29.11 at 1:09 pm ET

The Broncos signed running back Willis McGahee to a three-year, $7.5 million contract, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio reported on Friday, with $3 million guaranteed. The move comes after McGahee’s release from the Ravens.

McGahee brings a steady but unspectacular running ability to the Broncos. After rushing for over 1,100 yards in three of his first four seasons, McGahee has seen his numbers decline each of the last three seasons, bottoming out at 380 yards in 15 games last season. He has averaged just over 36 yards per game since 2008. He rushed for 12 touchdowns in 2009, the most since his rookie year (13), but in 2010 he rushed for just five.

He has kept himself healthy throughout his career, averaging 15 games per season.
