Fantasy Football: Week 14 Waiver Wire 12.06.11 at 10:13 am ET
By Peter Davidson

Welcome to the Week 14 waiver wire. At this point, if you are still reading, you are a playoff team. Congrats, but there’s obviously still work to be done. Here, we have assembled some of the better free agent options that we are seeing in our leagues. We’ll be watching more games today and adding names to the list for you folks that play in deeper formats, so feel free to join us at Rotobahn.com if you are looking for even more options. We’re also available if you are in need of a second opinion, so please feel free to leave a question in our forums and we’ll get you and answer as quickly as possible.

Christian Ponder, QB, Vikings

He’s been in this space for a while now, but if he is still around, and you need QB help, go get him. He is a fine young quarterback, and he played a great game last week without Adrian Peterson to lean on. Ponder is a quality backup in all formats.

Mark Sanchez, QB, Jets

It’s often less than pretty, but Sanchez is a reasonable option in deeper fantasy leagues and makes for a solid backup if you need one. The Jets are playing better offense these days if only by degrees.

Matt Moore, QB, Dolphins

He has been too solid to ignore and he is using all of the Dolphins offensive weapons and getting the ball out of his owns hands quickly. Moore can be your backup in a deep league if you need him. If you are suffering from injuries at QB, he can even start for you.

Kyle Orton, QB, Chiefs

He’s a guy to pay attention to if not a guy to pick up right away. We like him very much in deeper fantasy leagues if his finger injury ends up being minor and if he is starting. Orton, in KC’s offense, could be a solid fantasy backup. If Tyler Palko remains in the lineup, then avoid Orton. This situation will play out later in the week.

CJ Spiller, RB, Bills

Last week, we told you that we saw some improvement from Spiller as he played a solid game against the Jets. Now we are getting a bit more excited as Spiller showed off some of the skills that made him such a high draft pick. He almost had two scores, but one was negated by a holding penalty. Spiller should be owned in all leagues and we strongly recommend grabbing him if you have a shot at him. He has plenty of upside for the playoffs.

Donald Brown, RB, Colts

He’s been productive and he is available in a great many leagues. Regardless of who starts the game, this guy keeps ending up being their most productive back. The downside with Brown is his week fourteen matchup against the Ravens.

Marion Barber, RB, Bears

He’ll be the main guy for a few weeks and they are big weeks, so we’d go get him if he is out there and you need a body at RB. Barber was already a factor on the goal line, but now we expect him to touch the ball fifteen or more times per game. He is a legit flex option or better.

Maurice Morris, RB, Lions

Mo Morris will likely be the most active back in Detroit for the next few weeks as Kevin Smith is hurt again. Pick up Morris in deeper leagues if you need some depth and pick him up in any league if you were or are counting on Kevin Smith.

Brandon Saine, RB, Packers

We wrote a long piece on Saine a few weeks back and he is now being given a chance with James Starks banged up.  Saine is a unique fit for the Packers’ offense and we are intrigued by his combination of size and speed.  He is a solid pick up in very deep redraft leagues, but where we really like him is in long term formats.

Johnny Knox, WR, Bears

If you’ve been reading us for years, you know how  much we like Knox. He is the best receiver in Chicago and they are using him again. The QB situation is an issue, so he is just a WR3 or flex option, but he has come back to life and should be owned in all leagues.

Malcom Floyd, WR, Chargers

He looked very good last night in his return, so grab him if he’s been let go in your league. He is a very solid WR3 in any league size and the Chargers are going to be turning up the heat down the stretch. Floyd makes big plays.

Denarius Moore, WR, Raiders

Moore has been out for two weeks after injuring his foot in week eleven. He should return this week and we’d nab him if he is available. Moore’s upside is sky high if he is in the Raiders’ starting lineup. He is a high quality bench stash in any league. Add him.

Devin Aromashodu, WR, Vikings

He’s been on our list for weeks, but if you want him, you’d better move now. The Vike’s new starter was very active last week catching six balls for 90 yards. He may produce at the WR3 level as we close out 2011. He is a good add in large leagues for sure and some smaller ones too.

Demaryius Thomas, WR, Broncos

Thomas has been up and down, but when he is up, he is way up and he is looking like he is very close to regaining his pre-injury form. Demaryius is a must-add in long term formats and we like him as an add for depth in larger redraft leagues.

Jake Ballard, TE, Giants

We like him as a guy you can add for depth as he has been consistently involved week-to-week. He saw six targets again in week thirteen, so he is a guy who will post some numbers.
