Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was rated as No. 4 on the NFL Network’s “Top 100” countdown, which concluded Wednesday night. Brady, who was ranked No. 1 on last year’s list, trailed only Detroit wide receiver Calvin Johnson (No. 3), New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees (No. 2) and Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers (No. 1).

Several NFL players were quizzed about Brady as part of the segment, including Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis.

“Best, best ever, best ever, best in the game,” Revis said. “I’ll probably tell my kids and grandkids about him.

“The guys’ accuracy is unbelievable,” he added. “He throws the ball where you as a defender can’t get it.”

He also got some love from his teammates.

“He’s the ultimate competitor. The guy has accomplished so much, and it’s never enough,” said Patriots receiver Wes Welker.

Brady was the sixth Patriot on the list: Tight end Rob Gronkowski (No. 21), Welker (No. 23), left guard Logan Mankins (No. 64) and defensive lineman Vince Wilfork (No. 81) were the other Patriots in the top 100.

MMM, too bad the Pats offense isn’t like the Saints where Brady would get to throw the ball literally 40 times a game, lets see if brady would own the BS passing record.

Well I think the pretty much everyone of the Pats on the list got slighted except maybe Mankins. Gronk’s number on the list was okay but he is not the second best TE in the game. Welker led the league in receptions by a mile again and didn’t crack the top 20. Wilfork dropped a ridiculous amount of spots and is clearly better than quite a few of the player ranked higher than him. I can see Brady at #2 just because of Rodgers’ being the MVP and having such a great year but #4 is a joke. Maybe the Pats will use this as motivation to have a better overall year this season and actually win the Superbowl.

Last year Brady was the league MVP and got voted #1.  This year its Rodgers — fair enough.  Brees gets #2 for his “new” passing record, what can you do?  As for passing attempts, Brady gets his fair share.  He’s thrown over 600 a season a few times.

I don’t care how those top QBs get placed. No WR should be placed above Tom Brady, even Calvin Johnson.

    drew brees LOL

Remember that this list was a result of a national popularity vote and not on an evaluation of skill, production and value. We all know that anything NE is obviously hated outside the region and everybody KNOWS that Brady is number one in the NFL, they just don’t want to acknowledge it. Who really cares? See ya in the SB chumps.

Brady is 6th on the list.  Here are the 5 others, 1. Gronk, 2. Welker, 3. Mankins, 4. Wilfork, 5.

I’m surprised that Tim Tebow wasn’t voted above him.

If the pats D was half as good as the packers or saints Brady throws for more yards than brees and more TD’s than rodgers and the Pats go 19-0

What got me is why Wilfork dropped so many spots. His 2011 ranking wasn’t overrated, and this year he was better, so why the drop?

  • NYCPatsFan

It’s a respectable rank.  I can give Bree’s his rank, he set the passing record. Bree’s had a better defense (more attempts), an actual credible deep threat (deep threat =  yards folks), and Drew is a soldi quarterback.  Give Brady the same tools, he beats the record by 400 yards.

    trailing Brees is a joke

I love Welker an really all the guys on the list. But no way Welker should be top 20 like some people here believe. He is top 30 at best. An he is a great player but no higher then top 25. Gronk you could argue as the 2nd best TE. It tough to say whos #1 an whos #8 because there are so many good ones. You got your Duo, Witten, Gates, Grahm, My man V-Davis, Finly, F-Davis, Gresham, Pettigrew etc plus some rookies mostly just Fleener.

Brady should be #1 I get Rodgers being there tho. No Lloyd? Hernandez? Mayo?
