Tom Brady on D&C explains his exchange with Julian Edelman

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady , making his weekly appearance on Dennis & Callahan, said Monday morning the 6-3 Pats know they have to improve in order to accomplish their ultimate goal.
“I don’t think we’re ever satisfied where we’re at, and nor should we be. We’ve played nine games,” Brady said. “We were sitting here at 1-2 a while ago thinking we really needed to get better and we’ve won five of our last six. There’s no question we did plenty of good things yesterday, we did some things that weren’t so good. We’ve got to get back to work this week and get back on it because it doesn’t get easier.”
The Pats , clinging to a 37-31 lead in the final minute of the game, appeared to have let the game slip away when the Bills marched down the field and into the red zone on their final drive of the game. The Pats were saved when Devin McCourty intercepted a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass in the end zone.
“I always think we’re going to find a way to pull it out. I’ve thought that since the day I got here,” Brady said of the defense. “I practice against those guys in practice daily, and they’ve come up with a lot of big plays at the end. They did it against the Jets this year, they did this time — twice in the Jets game, at the end of the fourth quarter and overtime. I have a lot of confidence they’re going to be able to shut the other team down when they need to.”
Brady was seen giving receiver Julian Edelman an earful after the Pats had to punt on their opening drive of the third quarter. Brady said that his issue with Edelman had nothing to do with him being sacked on third down, but that it was simply about being on the same page.
“Julian and I, we have a great relationship. We’re locker mates, and we have a great relationship. We talked about certain things and it was just one of those communications,” Brady said. “He thought I was doing one thing and I thought he was doing the other and it ends up costing us a first down in a critical game at a critical point in the game. We’ve got to be on the same page. It was just some frustration boiling over. Those guys are working really hard trying to do the right thing. It’s just that that’s part of what our frustration on the day was a little bit about.
“It had nothing to do with the blocking assignments, it was just more the route-running. I probably held onto the ball a little longer than I should have in that situation because you can’t really take a sack in that situation. What I should have done was get rid of the ball quicker so we had maybe a realistic shot at a field goal.”
Danny Woodhead ‘s only carry of the game went for a 15-yard touchdown, while he also had four catches for 46 yards and a touchdown, making for the first multiple-touchdown performance of his career.
“I remember his first game [with the Patriots in 2010], we played Buffalo at home,” Brady said. “It may have been the third game of the year, and he had a similar type run play for a touchdown, and we kind of joked on the sidelines, Billy [O’Brien] and I, we kind of said, ‘The legend is born,’ because we saw that week in practice what he was capable of doing, and we kept saying, ‘God, why did the Jets release this guy?’ They had him playing receiver and he was a running back in college.
“He’s just come in and done such a great job. He is the ultimate team player and teammate. Dependable and consistent. You always know the level of play that you’re getting from Danny. He had a huge game yesterday for us, and we really needed it because as an offense I’d say really everyone didn’t have their best day other than Danny. He really saved the day for us.”
