Ravens’ Brendon Ayanbadejo apologizes for ripping Patriots’ ‘gimmick’ offense 01.14.13 at 11:21 am ET
By

Brendon Ayanbadejo

Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo, who sent out a series of incendiary tweets Sunday night about the Patriots and their hurry-up offense, apologized on Monday morning as the teams prepare to meet in next Sunday’s AFC championship game.

Tweeted Ayanbadejo: I made selfish comments on twitter last night that reflected poorly upon myself, my teammates, and the organization. For that I apologize.

On Sunday, Ayanbadejo started his rant by tweeting: New England does some suspect stuff on offense. Can’t really respect it. Comparable to a cheap shot b4 a fight.

He eventually started taking shots at the Patriots organization with tweets such as: You know the same organization that did spygate and cut a guy the day b4 the Super Bowl.

Added Ayanbadejo: In a sport that is predicated on mano y mano, “lets hurry up n snap it ” = bitchassness.

    Damage is already done

    Too late- you can’t un-ring  a bell…

Your offseason starts Sunday, you & Ray can hit all the strip clubs in Fells Point

  • Alex68

bitchassness” Lmao, what the hell is that??

  • Boring Media Hype

Bill has that bullet in his gun already.  No amount of backtracking will change anything now.  I love these big mouthed guys trying to counter what a football team does by stooping to name calling.  It’s not kindergarten folks, it’s the NFL…no bitchassness allowed here

  • Anonymous

Doubt it will happen but I hope the Pats score 50 on them next Sunday. Either way I think the Pats win.

Too late Brendon, Tom Brady has already started warming up his arm…

  • markfromlynn

The guy is a 36 yr. old journeyman whose claim to fame is special teams. The Ravens are his 10th team. But I’m sure Belichick will find a way to use his moronic comments to motivate the guys,as if playing in the AFC Championship isn’t motivation enough!

  • Boston_Sports

Word out of Foxboro is that the entire organization is infuriated with the comments. Nothing like pissing off a great team right before a home playoff game. Game still needs to be played, but nothing like a big mouth providing a little more motivation.

  • Jim Piersall

Other than his weird sounding name, the only way this fool gets noticed is by running his mouth.

  • Semperfi24

Taking it back 10 seconds after saying it = bitchassness

Never advise anyone to go to a club with Ray. The last time Ray went to a club, two poor souls lost their lives. Why Ray Lewis is so glorified by the media is mind boggling!

  • Bruinman86

IF the league hasn’t cracked down on it, then to them it isn’t an issue. Guess someone got caught whining about something he hasn’t figured out how to stop.

  • Bruinman86

    Ray’s career ends sunday….

  • Cwyiu

See now, I don’t respect guys like this.  You sent out trash, don’t take it back, you spineless fool.  I respect Suggs for his B.S. but at least her doesn’t back down.

  • Guess

I doubted the organization is infuriated.  They have seen the worse from the Jets before their last playoff game when Welker was suspended for 1 series.  The organization is probably laughing at this fool and to the bank for the extra money coming in from this surprising home gates.

  • K. Trout

So what? Who are you? Who are you Karim García?

  • Radareau

I guess the Pats are supposed to ask first if their ready before snapping the ball.  Grow up.  And thanks for the bulletin board material.

    Begin phone call transcript:

“Hey Ray, what’s up man?   I’m pumped for this game on Sunday, I think the Pats-”

“Brendan, I’m gonna need to you to shut the [CENSORED] up with that twitter [CENSORED].”

    “uhh…. what?”

“Actually, you need to get your [CENSORED] back on twitter and apologize ’cause you’re making us all look dumb.”

    “Uh… okay Ray.”

“All right, cool.  See you in practice.”

    End transcript.

whats brady supposed to do? get to the line of scrimmage and be like “ready…set…linebackers are you ready? 42..25..13…watt are you set in your stance? set…hut hut!!” it’s a friggin hurry up offense, thats half of the objective, to catch the defense flat footed and unprepared with the right call. the onus is on the defense to adjust and stop it, not for brady to slow down until everyone catches up and is ready. opposing coaches watch plenty of film, they know what the patriots do, it’s their responsibilty to get their players ready for it. whether they have to make audible or formation adjustments, have their guys prepared to get back to the line and set quicker, use a timeout to slow em down, whatever. thats on them.

dont blame brady and the pats offense because they are efficient, experienced, and have found ways to maximize their hurry up offense. it’s not their job to make it nice and comfortable for the defense. besides….the league would have long ago addressed it if they were doing something not within the rules. this isnt the first time a defender and whined about it.

    Headlines this week:

    “Brady Passes Montana.”

    “Ayanbadejo passes no one.”

  • Canstanzya

too little to late.  said it before, careful when you grab the lions tail.

  • Celticsgod

No need to backtrack punk. You can’t take it back now. Take your medicine on Sunday.

  • Bmon

From the team that brought you that classy  man of letters Tyrell Suggs, and the “It’s all about me all the time” Ray Lewis, ladies and gentlemen, we present to you that deep thinking football philosopher Brendon Ayanbadejo. Who apparently got a phone call from the front office soon after he made his well thought out comments on the true nature of football.

  • Fab4ever

And yet another confirmation that Twitter and many pro athletes are not a good match. I’m sure that his coach was NOT pleased…..the Pats need no further motivation…..they understand the stakes at hand.

  • scorpion

    You can not fix STUPID

  • mikeinnyc

Um, this ain’t an apology to the Pats people.   He’s apologizing to his team for “reflecting poorly” on them.  He specifies “For that I apologize.”  Nothing about the Pats or Brady.  He’s a punk, as is the rest of the team.  Looks like “slash and burn” will be back on the menu on Sunday.  Hope the unholy beatdown doesn’t drive a wedge between Belichick and his buddy Harbaugh.

  • Ztigr

    LOL, nice try Brendon!

  • Pbokeefe7

Benny Agbayani is more relevant to this game than this guy…he’s a complete nobody…his brother was a crummy fullback and he’s rubbish LB.

  • BigPatsFan1

Brendon, we can see right through your smoke screen of insecurity and inferiority.  What’s really going on here is that you and the rest of your thug Raven teammates would not be smart enough to grasp the Pats’ offense, you chump.

  • Gennaro494

Then he wouldn’t have made the comments if he didn’t mean them..lol..
    Apology is fake..
Who the hell is he anyway..someone who can’t even make the defense..never heard of him and neither has anyone else in the league..Was funny watching NFL network last night and when they brought this up..Dion Sanders was like ..Who is he..lol..that says something..

  • Gennaro494

    Ayanbadejo..ayanBITCHadeHO
He is a nobody!..But thanks for the bulletin board material..Tard..

Twitter exposes people who really should be keeping their thoughts to themselves, unless they want the world to know just how deficient their thoughts are.

Or it could say “Ayanbadejo gets passed twice during Holliday’s 2 TD returns”

  • Patsfanjayrod

    too late, db

  • Flyacub14

You can’t fix stupid. These clown’s just don’t get it. Keep your trap shut.

    NNNNOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTT  !!!!!!!

  • StL Red Sox Fan

Even if Brady had asked them if they were ready and told them the play, I don’t think they would have been able to stop them anyway.

  • StL Red Sox Fan

And in breaking news…Raven’s Brendon Ayanbadejo was listed as day to day due to “head in a$$” syndrome.

  • Pats

Thats a very classy move by Harbaugh, Everyone knows damn well this D-Bag didn’t just DECIDE to apologize on his own…Harbaugh MADE him

  • TiP

Thats what I’m screaming right on. He will soon fall victim to the Bell-ichick bell.

  • Pilgrim1620

I wonder who wrote that script for him.

  • Rumplestiltskin

Just another idiot who can’t help but say something stupid. And then back-track on it? It takes brains to play professional football. How that doesn’t carry over to everything else is beyond me.
