Anquan Boldin: This year will be different because ‘we’re gonna win’

Anquan Boldin predicted the Ravens would get revenge Sunday for last year’s loss to the Patriots and win the AFC championship. (AP)

Guarantees this time of year are not that uncommon, dating back to Joe Namath‘s famous prediction that the New York Jets would shock the football world and beat the heavily-favored Colts in Super Bowl III.

But whenever a Patriots’ opponent takes a similar stance it’s sure to find its way into the team’s locker room.

Earlier this week, it was Brendon Ayanbedejo ripping the Patriots’ no-huddle offense and lobbing insults referring to “Spygate” and the 18-1 season of 2007. He later apologized.

But that was a back-up linebacker who rarely sees the field. On Wednesday, starting wide receiver Anquan Boldin was reminded that this is a rematch of last year’s AFC championship in the very same venue that produced New England’s 23-20 win and ended the Ravens’ season in heartbreak.

On Wednesday, at the team’s practice facility in Owings Mills, Maryland, Boldin was asked why this year would be any different.

“[Because] we’ll make it different,” he replied.

How?

“We’re gonna win,” he said without missing a beat.

There likely won’t be any apology coming from Boldin.

    Will these dingbats ever learn?

    • Bruinman86

Hasn’t come true yet…..  Besides, even if they get past NE, there isn’t a chance they will get by San Fran.

      • Pats

You got that right B-Man…..If the Ravens do somehow beat the Pats, im going to be the 49ers biggest fan on Feb 3rd lol.

        • Geda2345

          U are a wagonist!

          • Pats

No i just hate the Ravens with a passion, and if they beat the Pats i want them to lose the superbowl….so either Atlanta or the 49ers i will be rooting for if thats the case.

      • Baller8767

The same way there was no chance they would beat Denver….

      • Think before you write

…they just beat San Fran last year. Yup no chance against a first year QB who could shrink on the big stage. Def no chance

        • Bruinman86

Atlanta’s recent playoff history isn’t one of greatness either. So I think it’s moot.

      • Alexzamenski

We beat once it isn’t a problem

        • McNab

The only problem, ski, is that the cravens wasted their one-win-every-six-games on the regular season. Now you have to wait a couple years for the next one.

        • Bruinman86

          Famous last words.

      • whitey

Wow, already annointing San Fran the champs in the NFC?!!   I think that statement might come back to bite you sir….The game is in Atlanta, where the Falcons have been mostly invincible over the last few years…..I think you underestimate how good Atlanta is at home bud…I believe the game will be a tightly contested match, ultimately San Fran probably edges the Falcons, but that’s no lock!

        • Bruinman86

Perhaps, but it’s only an opinion. One shared by the majority of football fans. Besides, If I’m wrong, so be it. If the Pats win Sunday, I would much rather see them face Atlanta instead of San Fran, due to the match-up issues. But either way, I don’t have an money on it, so let the cards fall where they may.

    • Sb36pats

All talk no bite. Patriots will teach them a lesson again.

  • San Diego Dreamer

    Hope we kick their butts.

  • Boslad

I want to see tears, and not of joy, flowing from Ray Lewis Sunday evening. I’m so sick and tired of his shtick – see ya, bye.

    • Ravensgoingdown

I have great repect for Ray but Boslad you couldn’t be more correct.  I agree, I’m also tired of his comedy routine.

    • Gina

      Get real. Dbag. RAVENS NATION!!!’

    • Jay25opt

How’d that work out for ya??

  • Boring Media Hype

What’s wrong with having some self confidence……This is a non issue

  • Fpikester

Yea know, I totally understand these players saying “we’re going to win”, honestly, would you want them to say “we’re gonna lose”. But, to go out and be arrogant .. Bulletin board material

  • Boring Media Hype

He’s just showing his confidence in his team.  This is a non issue.  There must be something important going on in the sports world more exciting as THIS piece

    • jj

      How about just shutting up?

    • Jyrusso

Mr Boldin can say what he wants. The guy has been absolute money in the playoffs. Hes the main reason they advanced as far as they did.

  • Tito

I remember when a certain receiver guessed the score for the Super Bowl and everyone laughed.

    • Fab4ever

Yeah, he was a real Nostradamus…What I can’t understand is why Obama doesn’t use him to help with the national debt….can’t wait to see Aaron Rodgers this weekend…oh wait, he’s not playing.

      • Tina Mcarthur

so I guess the board with Ray Lewis retirement date in New England is not arrogant it is a matter of opinion.People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones

        • Jim

Hi Tina.  While I don’t like the billboard with the Retirement date on it, lets remember something.  It’s not like Bob Kraft and the Patriots paid for that sign to be put up.  Whoever put that up is an overly exuberant Pats fan.  I’m a displaced Pats fan living in among tons of you Raven fans down in Maryland, and I can tell you with authority, Raven fans are showing the Patriots absolutely ZERO respect.

I ask all you Raven Fans to tell me which specific Patriot Players or coaches have said anything on a par with what Brendon Ayanbedejo and Anquan Boldin have said leading up to this game?  Which Patriots have guaranteed victory?  Which Patritots have deligitmized the Ravens for even being in the playoffs by citing being given a gift victory by replacement refs over the Pats earlier this season?  Which Pats players have brought up the knife incident with Ray Lewis several years ago?  Which Patriot players have used the term “bitchassness” to describe the Ravens style of play ?

  • Schwank

nothing wrong with being confident….but there is class and showing it and speaking in manner that shows respect.   They’re trap questions asked by the media who are experts at it…..hence it’s why BB goes into literally hibernation mode when talking to the media…..he’s literally “in character” and to deviate would lead him to slipping up…so he doesn’t.  These guys don’t have a clue to think before they speak.  The best answer would have been a roundabout answer.  something like last year is in the past …..two different teams…..looking to playing the game…..we’ll be ready ….were confident…etc etc.

You get my drift……think Brady answering the question…you’ll know what I mean.  At the end of the day ….it DOES provide bulletin board material.  Check out it’s a fottball life of BB’s speech before the SB aganst the Eagles about the Parade…..It’s cool how he does…..”Oh by the way…..just so you’ll know”   He doesn’t editorialize it…..just lets them know.

    • Baller8767

The right answer is whatever he feels is appropriate. “Bulletin board material” and the idea that the Patriots/Ravens need any more motivation to win this game is jus ridiculous. Anquan Boldin has always spoke his mind and he wasn’t dancing around saying anything disrespectful. There is nothing wrong with it, the way Brady/BB answer questions isn’t the right way, it’s a different way

  • Smithdj1984

Its going to be like when the Pats went into Blitzburgh and kicked them in their maningas ..

  • Anonymous

Just another stupid football player who deos not know when to shut up.

    • Gina

Then why are you even reading this???

  • Anonymous

If revenge is the motivator for victory, then perfect! We lost to the Ravens 31-30 in week 3, so we’ll be motivated by revenge for that loss, and then, well, remember that late season loss to the 49ers?

    • Choinese164

But if you remember, week 3 still had the replacement “refs”. They couldn’t tell the difference between a horse collar penalty and a face mask penalty. There were penalty calls on things that never happened.

  • Rabbit

    YEAH!!!! LET’S GO RAVENS!!!!!

  • U2-_believe

Really? Do pats fans really find this to be a story? This is about as relevant to the actual outcome and ‘arrogant’ as the sign counting down to ‘ray’s retirement.’

    • GingerKid2000

Apparently you did enough to waste your precious time reading and commenting on it. Funny how a person can complain about something they themselves are doing. I believe you are what people would call a hypocrite.

  • GingerKid2000

Ravens can pontificate with all the confidence and bravado they want. Still have to show up and play. This time they won’t have replacement refs, home field advantage or John Fox’s lousey play calling to help them. Then again maybe they should go into this game assuming the Pats are same team they were in the beginning of the season. Just like everyone did after the ’09 playoffs. Clearly that worked out so well for them.

  • H Bouley

Not likely AB unless the Pats come out flat. And the only AFC team that has a chance to beat either the Falcons or the Niners are the Pats. With a healthy Gronk the SB game with either would be a toss up or a slight edge for the Pats.

    • Think before you write

Gronk is out for the year and the Ravens beat San Fran last year. Man people have short memories

  • Jim

I find it interesting how for the last several years the Pats have become more and more hated everywhere outside of New England.  Pats fans have had to endure opposing team’s players, and their fans, along with many dolts in the media bringing up “spygate,” and how “classless” the Pats organization is.  They particularly do this around this time of the year as the Pats, once again, make another one of their perennial trips into the playoffs, and ussually DEEP into the playoffs.

Why is this interesting?  It’s interesting because while the Pats organization endures this lack of respect, opponents like Anquan Boldin, and Brendon Ayanbedejo can’t resist opening their mouths, bragging about their teams, and crapping on the Patriots.  In other words, they can’t resist doing EXACTLY what they accuse the Patriots of… being classless.

What makes this oddity even more interesting is the fact that as the Patriots prepare for a new opponent each week, our coach, and every Patriot player (as we all know) have nothing but praise for their upcoming opponent.  Furthermore, as soon as the Pats dispence with each of these opponents (i.e. the Texans), the Pats speak of them with nothing but continued high praise no matter how bad they just beat them.  On the rare occassion the Pats lose in the Playoffs (or any game for that matter) they rarely make excuses, and give their opponents that beat them full credit for having done so.

Furthermore, while I wouldn’t advocate ANY team, or player being loud mouthed, disrepsectfull, and bragadocious like these Raven players, I would observe the following: It would seem to me that exhibiting this kind of brashness and boldness would have to be EARNED throught MANY sustained YEARS of organizational excellence. That said, it would further seem the Patriots would have far more right than any team in the NFL to be so terribly brash and unsportmanlike.  Despite that though, the Patriots RESIST this temptation, and I’m glad they do. Meanwhile, teams like the Ravens, who haven’t won a Championship in over a decade just CAN’T shut up.

This disparity of operational proceedure between the Pats and so many other teams in the NFL, I find not just interesting, but quizzical.  I also find it VERY sad.  As sad as it is though, it could help explain in part, the tremendous success the Patriots have had over the last decade.  Not only are the so called “classless” Pats better and more prepared ON the field, it would seem they’re better PEOPLE …. OFF the field as well.

    • Geda2345

Are u stupid or just dumb?u have no life if u need to sit on this site and type a book!trash talk has been around since the beggining of time!get over it!Are u getting paid by the Patriots?u need to geta grip and stop cryin about smack talk cause they still gotta play the game!u act as if the Patriotsbwon last year!they lost and by the way, they havent won in a while as well so whats your point?

      • English!!!!!

Nicely written post!!   Not!!!!  You really should refrain from calling people dumb, especially when you’re post looks like it was written by a nine year old….

  • Ddude949

They write this article as if they expected him to say “nah I think we’ll probably lose”

  • TeamRaven

Attn sports world… The ravens and its fan base have realized for quite sometime that we are not liked outside of our own state. Our team represents us, and represents us well! We do it our way, and weather you like it or not we are one of the better teams in the league. So you can dislike Ray for his pregame ritual(that fine its a bmore thing) if you feel someway about his past (my religion says yet the who lives without sin) if you feel his retirement has garnered to much attention (please Peyton got more attn and dude was just changing teams) But let’s get real Men lie Women lie Stats don’t, and like it or not he is the greatest defensive player of all time!

    • Tattoo_mami

      AMEN!!!!!!

  • TeamRaven

And as far as my teams prediction. It’s called confidence, maybe your team should get some…

    • Mcar

If you open your pie hole….you need to back it up!  Smart teams keep their mouth shut. Oh…and for the record…we aren’t liked too much either outside of the New England area

    • Whassup02724

The Patriots have plenty of confidence.. they just don’t go shooting their mouths off about it. They just go out there and get the job done. Don’t have to brag. They let their play and record do the talking.
We pats fans also know our team and we are hated outside the New England area. It’s caused be jealousy by others whose teams suck!

    • Jim

Hey TeamRaven.  You may be SLIGHTLY interested to know that I happen to be a lifelong Patriots fan, and not just because I grew up in New England, but because I grew up with the Patriots Home Field a stones throw from my house.  The Patriots weren’t just “my team,” they were my NEIGHBOR.  Like many folks, I ended up re-locating (several times) as I entered adulthood, which for me meant leaving the New England region, and no longer having the Pats playing in my back yard.  However I’ve always maintained my loyalty and devotion to the Patriots no matter where I’ve lived.  Why would this be of interest to YOU, you may ask? My current home is now, and has been for a while, in the midst of Raven Nation (Maryland).

So, I get a daily dose of Raven fans, and have for years. That being the case,I’ve learned a LOT about Raven fans despite not being one myself.  I can speak with authority on Raven fans, since all my NEW neighbors are drapped in Raven Purple now.  My observation has been Raven fans are a bit deluded, and you seem to be as well.  Think I’m kidding and just trying to be mean?  Remember how all you Raven fans thought Steve McNair was “the answer” and how he would lead you to the Super Bowl?  Did he?  I digress though.

First of all, you defend your team’s brashness by calling it “confidence.”  Here is what your delluded mind does not get.  When your team’s players share that “confidence” in the form of guaranteed victorys, it’s ugly arrogance, and at the very least, stupid, as it provides bullitin board material for the opposition.

You further go on to recomend that, in regards to confidence: the patriots “should get some.”  Here is why you presume the Pats have no confidence.  You presume that because the Pats players are not making such bold guarantees of victory.  I can assure you this has nothing to do with a lack of confidence or a particular fear of your Ravens.  What this has to do with is sportsmanship, and being smart.  Further, this is the way the Patriots have always operated going into EVERY game.  It’s called showing some respect to ALL your opponents, even if your opponents haven’t earned it.  Maybe YOUR team should “get some” of THAT.

    • whitey

There is nothing wrong with confidence, but arrogance is moronic when you’re facing a guy like Brady who thrives on shutting big mouths like Boldin up!!!   Ray Lewis is  great player, but his pre game dance does nothing more than draw attention to himself!!!  That’s the difference between these teams.  The Patriots let their actions on the field speak for themselves, they don’t need some silly, epileptic looking dance performance to draw attention!!!

  • U2_believe

Seriously? Do Pats fans really think this is a big deal? Boldin’s comments are about as much of a guarantee as posting a billboard counting down the days to Ray’s “retirement.” Neither will have any impact on the game, or how hard players on opposing sides will play

Nothing to see here, move along

  • Choflo36

Any receiver would be over confident after playing against that Bronco’s secondary.

  • Mrmc59

I doubt it, but to his credit, if he didn’t feel that way I really wouldn’t want him on my team!

  • Ball so hard

All I see is a bunch of pats fan on the disscution, what do you want him to say? ” we are gonna go out an lose “. With a 9.5 odd, that’s just disrespectful!

  • Nycaaronspencer

This is a humble team that is always ranked as an underdog…lets not get too cocky

    • whitey

The Ravens are humble????  Wow, did you really just say that??  The Ravens an humble are two words I have never heard used together!!!!   You couldnt be any further ff base with that comment!!

  • Quinnryan42

We will c pal talk is cheap…. Did u even catch a pass when you played the broncos? My guess NO!!!! If so you didn’t score!!!!!

  • Fhh717

patriots fans are just scared…they’d never admit that though. ravens always play the pats tough and i’m predicting this year they’ll come away with the win

  • Daveward654321

I understand you Pats fans being so arrogant, just look where you live. Harvard type of elitist. Who cares if u cheat, or if you fumble & get a call of a “tuck rule” that has never before been used & maybe once or twice afterwards. LOL. The NFL set the Pats up after 9/11 to become an “Dynasty” what team better than the “PATRIOTS” start to benefit from every call known to man, even when there was no foul. You can’t even touch Brady on his pant leg without getting a 15 yard penalty. The NFL just like every other sport is rigged to benefit there pockets. Hell, just look at the NBA for crying out loud, a referee actually came out & said he & other refs cheated, so they could gamble on the games, also said that if they didn’t like a certain player or team they wouldn’t call the foul or penalty that occurred to them, LOL. So what better way for the NFL to set things up for that model you have as a QB to become one of the faces of the league. I definately wouldn’t be surprised at all to see the Pats get a pass interference call, or a holding call against the Ravens on 3rd & long to keep a drive or 2 alive. It happens every game, you imbeciles don’t watch that part as long as the tradition of cheating & over zealous referees want to “PROTECT” the pretty boys of the NFL. The Pats get away with everything from pick plays to offensive interference, especially Welker who pushes off every time he catches a pass. Super Bowl though all bets are off. Makes you wonder though how big of cheaters you guys are when you haven’t won it since you got caught. LOL. Even the Red Sox comeback on the Yankees was fraudulent, you had more guys on that team pumping roids in there system, than Barnie Frank eats men’s wieners. LOL Fake fans also, you were nowhere to be found before Belichek the cheater, you couldn’t even sell your stadium out! When y’all are scrubs again, I’m sure it will be the same. The nickname of your city sounds about right “BEANTOWN” every place you go, it smells like someone farted. One more thing Belichek is a racist, you can tell by that scowl on his face & the players he has on his team. Without the help of a penalty call here, a penalty called there you wouldn’t be as good as the Bills…

    • McNab

Dave ward. More like isolation ward, you babbling lunatic. Nice of the guards to jot down your ravings for you, what with being all wrapped up in that white jacket….

    • Pats

Your really an idiot, Another delusional fan who “THINKS” Brady gets all the calls…Yet when you check the facts he is at the BOTTOM of the list for roughing the passer penalties so throw that argument in the trash…..Also the pass interference calls…Funny everytime i watch the Pats play i can bank on 1 or 2 P.I. calls against THEM….Your just another Patriots hater that has to come up with some BS to explain why they are so successful.

      • Daveward654321

Where’s your stats to prove Brady is one of the worst at getting the late hit call? No where to be found, if you want to see a QB that gets hit on a regular basis & NOT get the call, look no further than Michael Vick, that dude gets crushed. Hell all Tommy Boy has to do is look at the referee a certain way & 10 seconds after the play is over. HERE COMES THE FLAG. Like I said these guys listen to the brass & set these games up to determine most times the winner. After 9/11 first game out, what do you see? Two Patriots running out the tunnel waving the American flag as if there were no other players in the NFL that had family in the NYPD or the Fire department, so when you think about it. You get a call that NO ONE HAD EVER HEARD OF OR SEEN BEFORE being called when ole’ golden boy fumbled…. I don’t think I’ve seen the tuck rule ever called again!! It might pop up this weekend with 3 minutes left, when ole’ Tommy Boy gets crushed by a man named Kruger. Set up for a team named the Patriots after 9/11 for the sake of the name itself. What other name if a team in the league would be better? LOL, just like most other Boston Harvard Elitists you all respect cheaters & liars & believe EXACTLY what people tell you, as if there is another side of the story. When that NBA ref came out, it spoke volumes about these leagues we all pray to on Sunday afternoons. All of Boston’s championships are tainted by Curt Schillings bloody errrrr… Ketchupy sock! Bunch of dildos

    • WHITEY

Bahahahahahaa, what a damn crybaby you are!!!   Waaahh, waaahhh, waaahhh, Brady gets all the calls!!!  Waaahha, the Patriots videotaped defensive signals, which by the way, almost every team did the same!!!!  Waahahahah, the Red Sox used roids, which by the way, the Yankee’s are one of the most tainted teams of that era!!!   You sir are nothing more than a crybaby, d-bag Ravens, Orioles, Wizards, and Capitals fan!!!  I would cry too if those were the teams I had to root for!!   The best part of you’re rant is the labeling of Belichick as a racist!!  Wow, you out did yourself on that one….Do us all a favor and please watch closely this Sunday as those cheating, racist, overprotected Patriots smash Ray Lewis into retirement, and advance to their 6th, yes 6th Superbowl in 11 years!!!  You sir are a poor excuse for a sports fan!!  How pathetic you’re life must be that you felt compelled to come on a Boston website in a sorry attempt to stir the pot…  When you go to bed tonight next to that nasty whale you call you’re wife, please remember this, YOU ARE IRRELEVANT!!!!

    • Jim

Daveward654321, I can’t complain about the length of your post as I myself am guilty of long posts (like this one), however, there is something called a paragraph, so look into it.  Now, while I believe Harvard elitists exist, I don’t believe they permeate the entire region of New England. Regarding the other points you make, I’ll address as many as I can, but let me first say, you sound like a classic jealous ranter who resents any one team having “too much” success.

Consequently, you construct in your own small mind, very loose reasoning as to why ANY team, like the Patriots, that dominate for as long as a decade,  really DIDN’T dominate.  You construct your own reality that you try and sell, that’s designed to deligitimize the accomplishments of ANY team that doesn’t ”spred the wealth,” and that doesn’t know when to rightfully step down off the stage and let other teams have the spotlight.  To people like you, we should take turns being at the top.  It isn’t fair that the Pats get all the Headlines, and drown out the attention given to your Ravens is it?

People like you invariably bring up spygate to start with, but of course do so only in very GENERAL terms.  You of course don’t talk about the specifics of spygate.  You don’t do this because you either don’t KNOW the specifics, or you DO know the specifics, but you also know the specifics wont help you sell the notion the Pats haven’t earned the place in history.

I could go into extensive detail on Spygate here, but I suspect that would be a waste of time with someone like you.  Furthermore I’d bore my fellow Pats fans to tears as they already know the detail.  However, since I just accused you of not talking in specifics about Spygate, I do need to address it to some degree.

Spygate was a joke in terms of providing any serious competative advantage, and here’s why.  First of all, shortly after the story broke, numerous current and former head coaches acknowledged filming signals accross the sidelines had been common practice for years.  These coaches further noted that no one cared enough to report it since no one felt it gave any serious competative advantage.  After it was discovered the Pats violated this rule in after week 1 of the 2007 season, league security was beefed up on all sidelines from that date forward to stop this practice.  Therefore from week 2 till the end of that 2007 season no one could make the claim the Pats filmed anymore signal calling.  As we all know, the Pats went 15-0 from week 2 on that season, and that fact alone illustrates just how much of a “competative advantage” filming signals on the sidelines had, that being zero.

As to your other ranting commentary, I’m almost inclined to not dignify it with a response, but I will anyway.  Regarding the “help of penalty calls” I’ll say this:  You do realize that the entire course of NFL history has been affected by judgement calls of refs in almost every minute of every game, do you not?  I don’t know how old you are, but I’m guessing from the way you write, you are about 12 years old, so you’ll need to look this next point up on the internet.

Since you bring up the Tuck Rule call in the famous Pats Raiders snow bowl game I’ll refer you to the following:  Just to show you the frequency in which refs have had major influence on history, I’ll point to yet ANOTHER equally important Pats Raiders game.  Coincidentally this was also Playoff game from MANY years prior to that Tuck Rule call, and occured most likely prior to your birth.

Look up the name “Sugar Bear Hamilton,” along with the term 1976 AFC Playoffs.  When you do this you will learn of a phantom “roughing the passer” call on the Patriots in the final 10 seconds of Pats Raiders playoffs game that cost the Patriots the game.  What’s my point?  My point is we could play this “what if game” all day and night from now till the end of time.  Want a more recent example of what if?  How bout just this past season?  Specifically, how bout the fact that your Raven team might not even BE in the Playoffs this year if it weren’t for the fact that a bunch of dumb replacement refs handed them their victory earlier this season over the Patriots.

I know you made several other points like a commentary on “Beantown” and linking it to gaseous bodily excreations, but you know what… I’ve already wasted enough time with you.

      • Daveward654321

Yeah, yeah whatever I’m not one of those that needs things spread around, IF THEY’VE EARNED IT. Your PATS have not earned it!
Tell us all of spygate & tell us all the other coaches that have admitted to cheating, & why were you penalized & no one else was? Because you are CHEATERS, as are the REDSOX. Were there no Redson player on that team that wasn’t juicing? LOL, you queers up there get the gift of every call in the book you quote a game, only god knows when they called the “tuck rule” I don’t believe you, show me a link to your little part of history.
Also I know what I see each week & EVERY HUGE CALL, goes in y’all’s favor, 95% of the time. Your receivers couldn’t get open without the help from a pick here a pick there, but never seems to be called? Every short pass y’all throw there’s a pick in there.
F it I’m done y’all some stupid sum birches

Dave, I’ll provide you with a link if you’d like … here ya go …. check it out …. http://www.keepxxx.com/video/x00M2psbjQ3aTMxcHM=-sugar-bear-hamilton-roughs-the-passer.html    I’m curious though, are you not sure how to conduct an internet search with the Key words I gave you earlier?  I find that people learn better when they do the research themself, and you DO need to work on your critical thinking skills.

In terms of who has defended the Patriots … Pittsburgh Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney said the following….  “We consider the tapes of our coaching staff during our games against the New England Patriots to be a non-issue. In our opinion, they had no impact on the results of those games.”

Former Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher, one of the greatest coaches in the history of the game, and a man who would have plenty of reason to bad mouth the Patriots given the fact the man himself lost to the Pats TWICE in the Playoffs had THIS to say…
“Listen, there’s people stealing signals all the time before that,” adding …. “You have ways to hide those things. We had wristbands for our defense. I remember trying to get offensive plays and see what the formations were. Everybody knows.”You’re trying to gain a competitive edge. Did that go beyond it? To a degree. Do I think that helped them win football games? No. You still have to go out and play the game. I still have a hard time believing that was a difference in a game.”

Former Cowboys Super Bowl winning Head Coach Jimmy Johnson said of Spygate ….
“Eighteen years ago, a scout for the Chiefs told me what they did, and he said what you need to do is just take your camera and you go and zoom in on the signal caller and that way you can sync it up. The problem is that if they’re not on the press box side you can’t do it from the press box, you have to do it from the sideline. This was 18 years ago.”
Like Johnson said, “this was 18 years ago.” Imagine how many times it’s happened since then?

Now, that all said, let me explain to you what a REAL Spygate would look like so you can perhaps get a feel for what REAL cheating is.  A real spygate would involve stealing Playbooks, bugging opposing team’s locker rooms and coaches offices, paying off team officials for game plans, installing actual spys into organizations, and so on.

Finally, in terms of the purity of the game you are so concerned about I’m curious about something.  Do you REALLY think the Ravens should even BE in the Playoffs?  You do realize that if not for a load of bad calls by Replacement Refs in their regular season game against the Pats, that would have been one less win for your beloved Ravens, and one MORE loss for them…. likely kicking them OUT of the Playoffs altogether.  Has that thought dawned upon you ?
