Robert Kraft discusses Tom Brady’s future with Patriots 02.02.13 at 5:30 pm ET

Tom Brady

Patriots owner Robert Kraft said that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady “had a remarkable year,” and would “love” it if Brady could retire as a member of the Patriots. However, he stopped short of guaranteeing that the quarterback would be in New England for the rest of his playing career.

“I think he had a remarkable year this year and I think we look at each year as it happens,” Kraft told CSSNE when he was asked about the 35-year-old Brady. “I’d love him to be here as long as he’s productive and feels he wants to play.”

Kraft was asked by Tom E. Curran about Brady’s future, as the quarterback’s current deal lasts through the 2014 season. Could he see the quarterback ever playing elsewhere?

“That’s his choice but I would surely never like to see that happen. I think what he’s done for this franchise … ” said Kraft, his voice ‘trailing off,’ according to Curran. “But once again, everything is a dual decision. But I think, somehow I feel he’ll know when it’s not right for him, and I believe he loves being a Patriot, and we sure love having him be part of our organization.”

he’s gone.  Pats leadership is laying the groundwork with stories like this.  I’ve been saying it all along this year.  Remember where you heard this.  Right before the draft he goes to KC (like Montana by the way) and the Pats get draft picks… including the Numebr 1 Overall pick this year.  Crazy huh?  You watch.

  • glenn88

Yes, you and this idea are crazy.   Something tells me you are writing this from a trailer park in Roswell New Mexico.

     idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brady retires a Patriot. Simple as that.

Brady’s new house is on the same street as Kraft’s. You guys really think he’s going anywhere???

  • Gerard de Graaff

Earlier than you think though… He’s not gettong a new deal.

  • brandonruns

Yeah, the media likes to drum up stories like this where there’s really nothing.  Without Brady, they’d arguably struggle a lot more just to make it to the playoffs (e.g., look what happened to Indy when Manning went down). And, I doubt Bellichick would ever let Brady go elsewhere as long as he’s coaching in NE. That said, I’d eventually like to see them get into the market for developing a young quarterback because Brady will have to retire at some point.

Or some crack house in the Bronx

Brady is not going anywhere. Retiring a Patriot. Bet on it. It’s a sure thing

  • bird from woonie

a lot of coaches and gm’s around the league  think ryan mallett was the best qb to come out of draft. 2010  i believe. trade brady for 2 number 1′s  have 2 first rounders  this year and next beef up the d and go with mallett. and if ya trade him to a hapless team like the chiefs or raiders u get   2 really good picks

  • bird from woonie

if ya gunna trade him the time is now

  • ih8sno

Nice job diktip!  Create a stupid post so that others can destroy you for it!

  • ih8sno

Brady will know when his back up is ready to take this team over. I’m hoping that’s not anytime to soon.

  • mikepatriot

Actually you’re something of a football guru with sources and information very few have ever had outside the organization, cause my source says that Brady is rather keen about relocating to and building a mcmansion in the Buffalo area.

  • Bielawski82

“I’d love him to be here as long as he’s productive and feels he wants to play.”

That’s code for anything is possible, it’s a year by year decision.  But that’s cool, at least he’s being honest.  Anyway nothing is going to happen for years, this is a non-story for now…

  • Bielawski82

You don’t know that.  It’s easy to say now but in five when Brady slows down and a young Aaron Rodgers type is waiting in the wings, there’s no telling what can happen.

  • Gaulin4

You can see a slight drop off but he’s as good as any QB out there.  How long can he hang on?  I hope as long as he wants.  No one gives up much for aging QB’s no matter how good they once were.  So I dont see him as trade bait.  And do you see him going into a situation where he’s a back up?  I dont.

  • Liquid

The ONLY way Brady would get traded to a team for the #1 pick in the draft would be if there was another Andrew Luck coming out of college…And that’s not the case this year.

  • Jay

    What an idiot. Lol

  • MR.MAJISTIC

After the CHIEF’S experiance with former PAT’S,(CASSEL,CRENNAL,ETC),i don’t think it will be them when the day come’s,it’ll be more of a team like ARIZONA,very good on defense, but needs a QB to lead the way,if it ever does happen?….but wait a minute, the CARDINAL’S have a very high draft pick this season, packaged with other pick’s and a starting corner, anybody think the power’s that be in foxboro have the STONES to go for it!!!!!!!!!…….I DON’T!!!!!!!!,i say BB and the boys ride TOMMY BOY until it’s obvious,he just ain’t got it no more!!!!!

  • daysoftheretarded

there is no andrew luck this year in the draft dopey.

  • big93mike

There is a better chance that they trade Mallet for a second rounder. Maybe if Brady is declining two years from now and still wants to play until he is forty then they might consider a trade. They aren’t going to move on unless they have a sure thing. The niners were in a much different situation with a talented hof guy riding the bench. I haven’t seen anything that has shown that Mallet is the next Steve Young.

Wait a minute, this is a media outlet doing what it’s supposed to do, reporting on a current story. If WEEI failed to cover what was recently reported they open themselves up to justifiable criticism.

Brady will most likely always be a Patriot. Pats Predictions 10.0
Free Agent signed Shaun Phillips OLB/DE Chargers, Gosder Cherilus OT Lions,Brian Hartline WR Miami
    and Glen Dorsey DT Chiefs.Draft 1 Trade for 2 and 4 2 Trade for 3 and 5
2 Alex Okafor DE Texas 3 Dallas Thomas OT Tennessee 3 Travis Kelce TE Cincinnati
4 Blidi Wreh-Wilson CB Connecticut 5 Trevardo Williams OLB Connecticut
7 Stansley Maponga DE TCU 7 Rex Burkhead RB Nebraska.

  • RN

Brady does not have it anymore. Brady is good for making Kraft money but Brady will not win the big one anymore.

  • Bosox4

    not that smart

  • http://www.facebook.com/curleybob Bob Curley

I will say this — if Tom’s performance drops off when he’s 37 or 38, and Belichick is still around, I could see him getting benched in favor of someone younger and with more upside. That’s the reality that Brady has been fighting against since he came into the league. Then it would be his choice to take it, retire, or go somewhere else. Otherwise, I agree that he retires a Patriot.

Is there any possible way to get Alex Smith here? He is young enough to learn the system under Brady for the next 2 or 3 years, and once Brady is gone, Smith will have at least 8 years under center. I think you give up a 1st round pick to get him. Or whatever it takes as far as the draft goes, because eventually you will have to draft a starting QB. I’m not sure how it would get done, but I’m sure it must have crossed Krafts’ mind. Sign Alex Smith.
