Patrick Chung signs with Eagles

Defensive back Patrick Chung signed with the Eagles on Tuesday, ending a four-year career with the Patriots.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pounder, who will be reunited with his former college coach, Chip Kelly, had issues with injury in his time in New England, struggling to stay on the field and starting 30 out of a possible 64 regular-season games with the Patriots. His best season was 2010, when he started 13 games (a career-high) and finished with 96 tackles (72 solo), three interceptions and nine passes defensed (all career-bests).

Chung is the second member of New England’s draft class to depart — offensive lineman Donald Thomas signed with the Colts earlier in the day.

    shocking the eagles signed him over all the actual qualified safeties on the market. I guess they felt they needed special teams help.

    We’ll see which Patrick Chung the Eagles will get.
    A motivated Chung in a situation that you’re not asking
    him to do too much might work for them.  It just seemed
    that he started out fine but steadily fell off in his
    production.

        Why do you say that? Show me how great the Pats D was when he actually suited up? He got burned time and time again. And as far as reliability is concerned, He missed 4 games this year after missing half the season the year before. I would expect more from a 2nd round pick.

    This guy was a poor player for the Pats.  He won’t be missed.   Well, maybe he might be missed out of the Eagles lineup when they figure out he sucks at safety.  I mean on top of sucking, he is a dummy too.  Remember the botched fake punt in the playoffs vs. the Jets…yeah, that was awesome.  Screw.

      IIRC, he’s 1/4 Chinese. He had a Chinese grandfather who immigrated to Jamaica. Too bad he was hurt so much.
