Return specialist/running back Leon Washington, who was cut by the Seahawks this week, will visit the Patriots on Thursday, according to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Washington, who reportedly has drawn interest from the Buccaneers as well, averaged 29.0 yards on kickoff returns and 8.7 yards on punt returns in 2012. He also rushed 23 times for 83 yards and caught four passes for 31 yards. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career.

The 30-year-old has spent the last three seasons in Seattle, following four years with the Jets. The 5-foot-8, 203-pounder has 2,213 rushing yards (4.7 ypc average), 1,127 receiving yards. 6,315 kick return yards and 26 touchdowns  in his seven-year career.

He was a fourth-round pick of the Jets in 2006 out of Florida State.

Another top quality free agent….I’ll say this…The Pats spare no expense.

welkers big mouth comments certaintly helped him out of town.  but his big mouth wifes comments about ray lewis was the tipping point.   kraft would have paid him, bellichick wanted him gone
bellichick does not care about pink hat patriot nation

Looks like a solid player.  Considering there is a salary cap and many
needs in mind, he could come at an affordable price.  I would rather go
this way then spend all the money on 3 guys.

     Defense, defense, defense.

Does this signal the end of Woodhead?

  • BlahhBB

Great dump wes for Amendola who averages 6 games per yr for the past two yrs and replace this bum with Woodhead. Time for BB to fly the coop

  • BPD

what about Jeff Demps? Can we please bring in some defense…

  • eli

b86 face it, you are just another BB jock sniffer…LoL

  • Habs dive squad

with all the holes we have on defense i’m glad we are focusing on upgrading our kick returns.

  • Bruinman86

Can’t argue with success. They haven’t won a championship in quite a while, but they are always in the running just about every year. Don’t know what teams you follow, but I suspect there’s some bias there as well. Pats Fan – Yes. Sniffer….yuck.

pass on him - deep threat and secondary help… offense is fine… moving onnnnnnnnnnnn !!!!!

compare Welker’s stats in his first 4 years before joining Brady and the Pats with Amendola’s stats in his first 4 years before joining Brady and the Pats.
The only reason people new about Welker is the same reason Red Sox fans knew about Julio Lugo…because they both had a couple good games against the Pats…Only difference is, Welker worked out.
I don’t know why people don’t think Amendola will be able to do the job…my guess is that it is those people who had Amendola on their fantasy team or people who have never seen him play who are upset with the move

Must be a Ravens fan based on you past posts. Enjoy your championship, because it looks like you team just pulled a “Florida Marlins” massive player dump. Raves will be lucky to make the playoffs next year.

Does this spell the end of Edelman???  I would say yes if they sign him…Here we go again!!!  Bargain basement shopping!!!!  I’m confused as to why they have no defensive players on their radar!!!  What the hell are they doing??!!

  • bospats

vareen signaled the end of woodhead

  • bospats

going back to track it seems

still have the draft, will probably address DT there, and perhaps a converage linebacker. However, I would expect us to address CB here in FA.
