Report: Patriots meet with Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders 03.15.13 at 12:09 pm ET

Emmanuel Sanders

Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, a restricted free agent who would cost a third-round draft pick to sign, is visiting with the Patriots, according to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Sanders is due to make $1.3 million if he plays in Pittsburgh in 2013. The Steelers are having salary cap issues and might have issues matching a reasonable offer to the receiver.

Sanders, who turns 26 Sunday, caught 44 passes for 626 yards and one touchdown in 2012. In his three-year career, Sanders has 94 receptions for 1,290 yards and five TDs. He was a third-round pick in 2010 out of SMU.

Seems like a high price for a non star WR. Looks like he has some skills, but has anyone heard of him? Is he a deep threat?

  • macanudo101

Yeah he’s actually pretty quick, and with Brady throwing him the ball he should be able to get 60-80 receptions or at least match his productivity of last season. Would be a great pick-up if it actually goes through…

Speed and deep threat but injury prone as far as I remember.

    82nd pick 3 years ago, good combine,(4.41-40). 11 catches 20+ yards in 7 starts last year with 626 total yards. 5′ 8″ 180lbs…..miss anything?

I like Sanders more than Lloyd.Pats have really done their homework.Pats Predictions 50.0

this makes sense. obviously they are thinking that they need to use one of thier first three picks on a WR. Why draft one when you have zero success of doing so when you can just use one of them to get this guy?

  • Bruinman86

I’m seeing 5’11″ 186. I hope he’s taller than 5″8″ otherwise he may have issues with taller corners. But if he’s 5’11″, sounds like he could stretch the field.

  • Koby

please do not sign this guy, ill take lloyd over this guy anyday, and giving up a 3rd pick dont do it

  • BosPats

He is good. Fast runs 4.4 and I thought he was around 6′. Player really well in Pitt last year considering the turmoil they had. He is also young. Due for a breakout year. I would be O.K with a 3rd rounder for this guy. He is better than Lloyd. He is also due for a breakout year.

  • fatchance

Yes, you are correct on the size

  • gopats

Hes got some potenial to be a very good deep threat. Plus a wr. The pats should sign him.
