Almost 100% sure he will return to Denver. He had a deal in place for 8 million so not sure how many teams are going to top that looking around the league at what free agents are getting this year. Miami might be the only team with the kind of space to blow him away with an offer. I’m sure you’ll see the Pats either add Abraham(my guess) or Freeney for short years.

They didn’t even spend up to the cap last year. What are you talking about. The Pats are all about bargains and depth. That hasn’t won a Super Bowl. BB had left over pieces to win SB’s. That is fine, but BB has NEVER created a team to win the SB.

Yes it’s about depth, but that’s because the big money stars are already in place. TB, Vince, Mayo, Gronk are the nucleus. If you have 6-7 stars, you can’t afford any depth, and those teams often have shabby lines and major holes. Bashing Kraft is ludicrous. I disagree with your last sentence. The ’03 and ’04 teams had a much different roster than the ’01 team, which still had some Parcells/Carrol left overs.

They have about 9 million in cap space at this time. Dumervil agreed to 8 million a year with Denver prior to the mess up with the contract. Give Dumervil 8 million a year and that gives you 1 million in cap space. You also have to sign draft picks and possible free agents that get cut during camps. Which measn that Patriots would have to clear space. You could get Abraham or Freeney for a third of that. Look at the teams that spend like crazy, dallas, washington, the jets. Where are they? The Patriots nailed the free agent market this year. My problem is Arrington getting a 4 year deal worth 4 million a year and Talib is only making 5 millions.

My feeling is that we are not going to pay him that kind of money. We could get both Freeney and Abraham for that money. If pats do not get at least one good pass rusher in Free Agency then our defense will not be that much better than it was the last few years.

Dumervil is most definitely not coming to Foxboro. Especially for under 7-8 million..They simply don’t have that kind of cap space left. After releasing Lloyd they have around 11 million in cap space, 3-4 of which needs to be allocated to draft picks, leaving 7-8 million. I believe they will resign Vollmer in that slot, and hopefully add Abraham or Freeney, which I doubt will happen. Unless they make a mistake and move on from Vollmer, we fans should’nt expect many more big free agent acqusitions…They also need another receiver, a need they most likely fill in the draft..
