Danny Amendola, Rob Gronkowski ‘doubtful’ vs. Jets, 8 others questionable

FOXBORO — When it comes to injury news, Patriots fans are looking for the slightest glimmer of hope.
However, Amendola (groin) and Gronkowski (back/forearm) were again listed as limited on Wednesday and are officially considered “doubtful” for Thursday’s contest. The “doubtful” designation means that both players have no better than a 25 percent chance of being ready to play.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Albert Breer indicated Tuesday that Amendola, according to sources close to the situation, was “almost certain” to miss the game and had a groin issue that was still be evaluated by team trainers and medical staff.
The news on Gronkowski might be considered promising after he was ruled out a day before Sunday’s season opener in Buffalo. But part of that could also be the fact that Gronkowski didn’t make the trip with the team to Western New York and the team didn’t want to travel a player who wasn’t going to play.
Matthew Slater was added to the injury report during Tuesday’s walkthrough and is considered no better than questionable with a knee issue.
The Patriots went through their final walkthrough on Wednesday in advance of Thursday night’s game at Gillette Stadium against the Jets.
The Jets have ruled out three players in defensive lineman Quinton Coples (ankle), QB Mark Sanchez (shoulder) and WR Jeremy Kerley with a concussion. Tight end Kellen Winslow (knee) did not practice Wednesday but is listed as probable and is expected to play.
Here’s the complete Wednesday report:
