Report: Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola don’t make the trip to Atlanta

The Patriots left for Atlanta and their Sunday night showdown with Matt Ryan and the Falcons on Saturday afternoon but two key players reportedly did not make the trip.
The Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe, the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday that Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola did not make the trip and are expected to be ruled out upon the team’s arrival in Atlanta Saturday evening.
Schefter reported later Saturday that Gronkowski is expected to be ready within the next three weeks while the NFL Network’s Albert Breer reported that Gronkowski was telling teammates early in the week that he was feeling good and ready to play before being ruled out.
This is the second time this season Gronkowski has not traveled with the team on the road for a game, as he remained back home on Sept. 7 when the team traveled to Buffalo for their season opener the next day against the Bills.
When players do not make the trip with the team, it is customary for teams to downgrade their players to out for the game, as was the case on the first weekend of the season.
This news comes as a report surfaced Saturday in the Boston Herald that Gronkowski’s camp and the team are at odds over whether the tight end is indeed ready to resume action after five offseason surgeries on his left forearm and his back. Gronkowski’s supporters don’t feel the tight end is 100 percent yet while the team reportedly has seen nothing holding him back in practice that would suggest he’s not ready to make his 2013 debut.
Adding to the intrigue is a report from national sports medicine expert Will Carroll, who reported that sources close to the Patriots say Gronkowski is “behind where we need him to be.”
Just talked with NE sources. Gronkowski out this week (didn't make trip) and "behind where we need him to be" for next week.
