Bill Belichick says Rob Gronkowski still ‘day-to-day,’ team awaits word from Dr. James Andrews

FOXBORO — The reports are that Rob Gronkowski will finally be cleared to play this week against the Saints and make his 2013 debut.

The word is Dr. James Andrews is being brought in to give his final clearance so that the Pro Bowl tight end can return.

But judging by Bill Belichick‘s comments Wednesday, he certainly didn’t sound like much had changed.

How is Rob?

“He’s day-to-day,” Belichick said.

Is he making progress?

“He’s day-to-day,” Belichick added.

Does he expect information on Gronkowski later in the week to change the outlook?

“Yeah, I don’t know,” Belichick said. “That’s a question you can discuss at the end of the week, depending on what information is or isn’t available. I don’t know.”

How is he feeling?

“He’s day-to-day,” Belichick said.

How close was he last week to playing?

“He practiced,” Belichick said.

Has his physical condition improved?

“He practiced,” Belichick concluded.
