Former colleague Phil Savage sheds some light on Bill Belichick’s pre-draft evaluation process

A couple of interesting Tweets Wednesday from a former Bill Belichick colleague shed some light on Belichick’s approach to the pre-draft process.

Phil Savage worked with Belichick with the Browns in the early 1990s, serving as a defensive assistant, college scout and national scout while Belichick was head coach in Cleveland. Savage, who is now the executive director of the Senior Bowl, said that while with the Browns, Belichick was reticent to trust an area scout to give a “round grade” on a potential prospect.

Food for thought as we consider the Patriots and the pre-draft process.
