NFL Draft’s Potential Patriots: Mississippi WR Donte Moncrief

Position: Wide receiver
Weight: 221 pounds
Achievements: 2013 Phil Steele midseason All-SEC third team, 2012 second-team All-SEC (College Sports Madness), 2012 third-team All-ACC (Phil Steele), 2012 College Football News sophomore All-America second team, freshman All-America honorable mention (College Football News)
What he brings: Scouts say that Moncrief has an ideal frame and deceptive speed, but that he needs to work on his route running and develop better straight-line speed.
Where the Patriots could get him: Rounds 1-2
Notes: Moncrief came in third of all wide receivers at the NFL combine for the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.40 and the vertical jump with a height of 39.5 inches. He had the best broad jump of all wide receivers with a mark of 11 feet. … After his three-year career at Ole Miss, he ranked third in school history with 156 receptions, 2,371 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns and second with nine 100-yard receiving games. … As a junior, Moncrief led the team with 938 receiving yards and six touchdown catches. He was second on the team with 59 receptions. … Moncrief tied the school’s single-season record for touchdown catches with 10 during his sophomore year. He also had four 100-yard receiving games during the 2012 season. … Moncrief started in all 12 games during his freshman season in 2011 and led the team 31 receptions for 454 yards and four touchdowns.
