As expected, the Patriots signed linebacker Prescott Burgess to the practice squad today, and released defensive lineman Adrian Grady. Here’s the release from the team on the move:
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots signed LB Prescott Burgess to the practice squad today. Burgess was released from the 53-man roster on Tuesday to make room for DL Terdell Sands. To make room on the eight-man practice squad for Burgess, New England released DL Adrian Grady.
Burgess, 6-3, 247 pounds, was acquired by New England on Sept. 22, 2009, in a trade with Baltimore for an undisclosed draft choice. He was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the Ravens in 2007 out of Michigan. Burgess saw action in eight games as a rookie, posting seven special teams tackles before ending the year on injured reserve due to a hip injury. He spent the entire 2008 season on injured reserve with a forearm injury that occurred during the preseason. Burgess saw action in Baltimore’s first two games of the 2009 season and was inactive last Sunday against Atlanta for New England.
Grady, 6-1, 290 pounds, was originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as a rookie free agent out of Louisville on April 30, 2009. He was waived by the Colts in their final cuts and signed to the New England practice squad on September 7.
