| Report: Pats a front-runner to land Weis in 2010 | 11.29.09 at 8:07 pm ET |
Former Patriots assistant Charlie Weis could be coming back to Foxboro. On NBC’s “Football Night in America” Sunday evening, Peter King said the favorites to hire Weis as an assistant in 2010 are the Patriots, Kansas City and Carolina, with Indianapolis as a “very, very dark horse.” It is believed Weis, a former offensive coordinator with New England who left to become head coach at Notre Dame at the end of the 2004 season, will soon be fired by the Fighting Irish.
Weis spent several seasons with the Patriots — he was an assistant in New England from 1993-96, and from 2000 until 2004, he was the offensive coordinator.
