Former Patriots center Bryan Stork is no longer in the NFL, but he’s still staying involved with football.

Stork announced via Twitter on Thursday night that he has accepted a graduate assistant job with Southern Mississippi football coaching the offensive line. Last month Stork said he’s become a licensed realtor.

The 26-year-old played two seasons in the NFL after being drafted in the fourth round by the Patriots in 2014. He played in 21 career games, but battled concussions which kept him off the field.

David Andrews beat Stork out for the starting center job last year during training camp. The Patriots traded him to the Redskins, but after he failed his physical the trade was rescinded and the Patriots ultimately released him.

On March of this year, he announced his retirement from the NFL.

Bryan Stork announces he’s stepping away from football 03.22.17 at 8:38 am ET

Late Tuesday night, former Patriots offensive lineman Bryan Stork announced on Twitter he is “stepping away from football.”

“I can’t say I am retiring because I am only 26 years old but I have decided to officially step away from the game of football which I will always love dearly,” Stork wrote.

The Patriots selected Stork in the 2014 draft, and he even started at center in Super Bowl XLIX, but that was his most productive season.

Stork battled injuries, including concussions, throughout his first two seasons in the NFL, missing 11 games. Last preseason the Patriots tried to trade him to Washington, but he failed a physical so he was sent back to New England and then was officially released.

He wasn’t picked up by another team.

Report: Ex-Patriots OL Bryan Stork to visit with Jets 09.20.16 at 12:01 pm ET

Bryan Stork is set to visit with the Jets, according to several reports.

The former Patriots center was released this summer by New England after a trade to the Redskins was voided because of a failed physical. The 25-year-old Stork, who was a fourth-round pick of New England in 2014, was a key piece of an offensive line that helped New England win Super Bowl XLIX. However, the Florida State product sustained serious health issues, including multiple concussions.

Patriots officially release Bryan Stork, place Tre’ Jackson on PUP, roster at 80 08.29.16 at 6:34 pm ET

The drama over Bryan Stork is over, for now at least.

The Patriots released Stork Monday evening after he was returned to the team after failing his physical with the Redskins.

The team also placed injured offensive lineman Tre’ Jackson on the physically unable to perform list, meaning he will sit out at least the first six weeks.

For Stork, it caps a wild week, in which he was reportedly released last Wednesday, then traded to the Redskins later in the day for a seventh round conditional pick. After reports surfaced that he was considering retirement instead of reporting, he declared that he was ready to play and reported to the Redskins. But the Redskins failed him on the mandated physical and returned him to the Patriots on Monday.

Stork’s release and Jackson’s roster move were first reported by Doug Kyed of NESN.com.

Stork’s release, Jackson’s move to PUP and Terrance Knighton’s release earlier in the day takes the roster down to 80.

Jackson, who started nine games at guard in his 2015 rookie season, had his knee scoped in the offseason and was expected to be ready for the regular season but that possibility was wiped out Monday with his landing on the PUP list. Jackson was as fourth round pick (111th overall) by the Patriots in 2015 out of Florida State.

Every NFL team must cut their roster down to 75 by 4 p.m. ET Tuesday.

FOXBORO — It appears that Bryan Stork’s rights have reverted back to the Patriots.

The offensive lineman, who was dealt to the Redskins last week for a conditional draft pick, reportedly failed his physical with Washington. On Monday, Bill Belichick was asked if New England would reclaim his rights because of what happened.

“I don’t know if that’s official, but that sounds like the way it’s going to go,” Belichick said.

“We’ll find out exactly what the story is,” he added. “Whenever that is, we’ll make the best decision that we can.”

Multiple reports now indicate that former Patriots offensive lineman Bryan Stork has failed his physical with the Redskins.

Stork, who was dealt by New England to Washington for a conditional seventh-round pick next spring, had considered retirement just after the trade, but said last week he was ready to play football. The former fourth-round selection out of Florida State played two seasons with the Patriots, and was starter on the team that won Super Bowl XLIX.

It looks like Bryan Stork is still interesting in playing football.

The former Patriots offensive lineman, who had apparently been pondering retirement following a trade from New England to Washington earlier this week, said Saturday he was ready to suit up for the Redskins.

Stork was dealt from the Patriots to Washington for a conditional seventh-round pick. The former Florida State center was a fourth-round selector of New England in 2014, and played the last two seasons with the Patriots.
